what is a bowel transplant? does that include both the colon and small intestines? i see that it's a rare operation, how come?

Accepted Answer

Depends : There are smal bowel and colon resections.  Depends on why and where the problem is.  A transplant likely a translocation of the bowel.

if i don't fix an umbilical hernia, how likely are the chances i will have a strangulated bowel? (i want to know how rare it is).

Accepted Answer

Variable: If its a small hernia that only contains fat, the chances of  having strangulated bowel are close to zero. If there is bowel i. The hernia now, the odds go way up, but this is also dependent in how big the hernia defect is. We think the risk is higher for smaller hernias. bowel movements have changed from what i would describe as normal to pebbles. there have been rare incidents with increased fibre and water that i have had it reversed but not usually. this has been for the last few weeks. should i be concerned?

: Try a diet of five times more vegetables than lean meat with plenty of water for two weeks. If the issue is not resolved you should see a physician ASAP.

Constipation?: Absence of bowel movements is usually due to constipation and believe it or not Crohns patients can get constipated.  Good control of the disease also can reduce bowel movements. If you are under good control and you see your doctor regularly it could be constipation or diverticular disease.  Advise you follow up with your GI doctor and be sure he checks you.

Fluids/hIgh Fiber: Young male with constipation with mid abd . discomfort(occasional), and  very rare and brief post evacuation dripping blood.
My Dx will be  IBS-C with probable Internal hemorrhoids, Detailed History and Physical Exam. very important, ask him to take high fiber, plenty of fluids and OTC prep H twice a day and make a appointment with GI for Colon examination and further w/u depends on his HX

Gas: It may be just air that has caused colon distention in which case it should be getting better. If not, you may have a gastrointestinal problem unrelated to the masturbation.

Bullseye rash: You may have a condition  known as erythema migrans that is seen in lymes disease but is also seen in other tick borne diseases.Consult a dermatologist for evaluation and treatment.

Maybe nothing: If it's just seldomly felt cramp, it may just be normal function of your bowels.  If this becomes continuous, worsening, or is associated with other symptoms, i would get it evaluated by a doctor.
