Ectopy: Benign type ventricular ectopy in an otherwise normal heart rarely is associated with sudden death. If the situation changes so that the previously benign ectopy continues to exist but now within a diseased myocardium, the situation is altered.

Probably normal: It is very common for most people to have some extra heart beats on a holter monitor.  These ectopic or skipped beats could originate from the upper heart chamber (atrial) or lower heart chamber (ventricular).  If these are isolated / single beats and infrequent, they usually are benign and not a concern and do not require further treatment.  Call you doc if you have further questions.

: Supraventricular &amp; ventricular premature beats can be provoked by secretion of adrenaline which occurs with excitement or stressful situations &amp; a POTS episode would be a likely cause. If only occasional single premature beats occurred it wouldn't be alarming. : Complex issue.  Discuss with Drs.  Ask about Conn’s, low K, other meds, other diseases, need anti coagulation, DASH DIET.

You have a: complicated cardiac history but obviously a cardiologist must be taking care of you. It will be impossible to advise you over the internet since we do not have access to all of your historical information. Contact your health care practitioners (Cardiologists) with your concerns. If you are not satisfied with their assistance then find another local physician to evaluate you.

Ventricular irritab: Assuming you are referring to pvc's or premature ventricular contractions  - besides myocardial ischemia   the most common cause i see is caffeine ingestion - followed by stimulant ingestion ie pseudofed.    Cocaine and other illicit drugs as well as add drugs can cause irritability as well.   Elimination of these will generally solve the problem if not its time to see a cardiologist.

Cellular level: Irritability refers to enhanced ability of the heart cells to generate an electrical impulse (known as action potential).  This happens when a substance referred to as cyclic amp increases in the heart cell causing increased entry of calcium into the cell.  With increased calcium, the heart cell both fire impulses rapidly as well as contract vigorously.  I will go over some of the causes next.

SVT ectopy: It refers to extra beats from the top chambers of the heart or atria.  They are caused by an transient imbalance in the ionic channels of cardiac cells or abnormal conduction.  Typically, the sodium channel is the affect one.  This has nothing to do with serum levels of sodium.  However, high blood pressure can lead to elevated atrial pressure which can induce ectopy from the left atrium.

Not likely: It really depends upon how severe the ventricular septal defect is.  Most VSD's are very minor, meaning that almost no blood is shunted from one ventricle to the other.  In those cases they do not cause any symptoms.  If there is significant shunting, you might experience breathing difficulties, fluid buildup and also failure to gain.  However failure to gain would never be the only symptom.
