is it serious if i have blue veins on the palms of my hands?

Accepted Answer

Normal finding: Veins appearing on the top of the hand or on the palms of the hands are common findings and are not anything serious.  Veins can enlarge and decrease for many reasons including level of hydration, temperature, exercise and genetics.

my sister is age of 11,she has no disease but her left hand's wrist veins pain and turns into dark blue colour.

Accepted Answer

Veins: Blood in veins being deoxygenated looks purplish normally. Veins should not be painful unless they are inflamed(phlebitis) in which case they would be hardened and tender to the touch. My guess is that her hand discomfort is due to other causes such as sprain,contusion,etc. A physician will need to examine her if symptoms persist or if redness or swelling develop.

what does it mean if the bottom of the plam of my hand is blue and has pulsating veins?

Bluish palms: Bluish and prominent veins at the levels of your forearm, wrist and Palm are not abnormal unless they don't recede when you elevate your arm above the level  of your heart. Otherwise an obstruction to blood flow from your veins to your heart would be suspected. For further advice consult your physician or a vascular surgeon.

hi i have dark blue/ purple veins on the inside of my hand and they feel itching from within is that normal?

Doesn't sound normal: Sounds like the way my hands feel after being in the snow, but it says you are in Australia, so unless you work in a cold environment (meat section of grocery store etc) it is unlikely this is a response to low temperature!  Could possibly be an allergic response causing the itching.  Best thing is to have a Dr examine your skin, check the circulation in hands and determine the best treatment.

i have a black/blue knot above my hand on the left side of my wrist that just appeared, my veins are occasionally bulging in my hand as well.

Vein valve: The vein has valve to direct blood flow one direction, where engorging may happen, as the blood pooling which direction of blood went opposite, different direction.
It may be temporary or may contain blood clot. The superficial vein clots may not make emboli but painful bulging. It usually subside without specific tratment.

is it possible to pinch a vein shut? the vein in my thumb was smashed. it is now bright blue, hard an raised. it is making my whole hand tingle.

Nah..it ain't so Joe: You caused a nice big BRUISE by whacking the thumb but it's not a vein or anything like that...it's the swelling and accumulation of fluids including blood.  If it's causing tingling in the hand then, you should have it looked at right away. It may need decompression otherwise, you could have nerve damage that's permanent from the accumulated pressure that's not being released. Ice down a  lot.

Yes: Our veins carry blood that has had most of the oxygen removed from it -- that's why it looks blue.  We often will notice something about our body that we haven't before -- that is normal.  The best way to know if it is OK, is to see your doctor.  If you're not worried, and no one else has noted, take a "selfie" of your neck, so you can watch for any change.  If there is something, see your Dr.

i noticed veins and fingers on my moms hand this morn very blue also under nail bed..hand did feel cold to touch..is this something i should be concer?

Blue: the color blue is not normal and needs assessment, if associated pain you need evaluation now

Most likely not: I hope that you get annual head to toe dermatological assessment so that all moles/ skin lesions can be visualized.
