Might be...: Need a little more history on the type of pain and when it happens.  Get checked by the podiatrist.  Typically, a vein doesn't hurt directly; it may be impinging a nerve.  However, if you can see the vein, it may be swollen; and the cause of that needs to be determined.  Also, you may have injured one of the structures beneath.  Get checked!

Possible Arthritis: Since you know your ESR is elevated, you have seen someone.  Your symptoms strongly suggest arthritis or other type of inflammatory process.  This needs further evaluation by your primary care doctor or a rheumatologist.

Ankle pain: This level of pain indicates the need for an evaluation.  If you can't get to your podiatrist asap , seek help at the emergency room .   Good luck.

These can B common-: -in people who stand at a work ststion but also can also run in families. Not usually a sign of deeper vein problems. If this is really worrisome 2 U both, get an appointment with your PCP.

i inject drugs and missed a vein on top of my foot. it hurts really bad and my whole foot and ankle are swollen. it also blistered. what can i do?

Get Help STAT: You could have any number of problems, but my guess would be either a possibly severe infection or a blood clot.  I recommend you go to an emergency center stat as if an infection, this usually requires intravenous antibiotics to fix and if a blood clot in your leg, you really cannot treat that at home either.  You have another problem that needs help obviously as well.

Varicose veins: Can present as you describe,and can be asymptomatic. If it hurts, swells or looks inflammed, see a doctor.

got a knot on the bone that runs from ankle to my big toe right on a vein,hurts some times when i wear shoes.what could this be?

It is a bit : Difficult to understand precisely what you are saying because there are many bones between the ankle and the big toe.....there is a talus bone, navicular, cuneiform metatarsal bone along the most medial aspect of the foot. What is meant by a "knot"? Perhaps a ganglion? A midfoot exostosis?

Physical therapy: An ankle sprain is usually a tear of the ligaments supporting the ankle.  When healing, they scar over either correctly or incorrectly depending on your level of activity during healing as well as luck.  If the scarring has left your ligaments too tight or too loose, ankle physical therapy may be able to restore or improve ankle function.  This should be supervised by a licensed physical therapist

Foot pain: Many active patients that have a tendency to pronate or wear flat sandals/shoes will end up with a tendonitis in the inside of their ankle and foot.  There are many great conservative and surgical treatment options that really help patients out. Take it easy and best wishes!
