Singles treatment: Herpes zoster (shingles) is usually treated for at least a week, sometimes 2 weeks or more. Improvement should begin in 2-3 days, but it can take 10 days or more to heal completely. Clarify your treatment plan with your doctor. Good luck!

No: Can't  have both conditions, from the science we know so far, and the description doesn't fit chickenpox, it might be as you said bug bites, hard to make a diagnosis without at least a picture, please continue your medicines as prescribed, if  the rash is getting worse, revisit your doctor

Shingles is no exception, and I have personally seen it be so severe in people without normal immune systems. Prednisone weakens precisely the part of the immune system that protects against viruses. Taking it can make shingles worse.

It may still spread: Once the rash of shingles has started, antivirals like VALTREX (valacyclovir) cannot quickly stop it from erupting further, but may reduce the severity (pain) to an extent and help it to resolve more quickly (perhaps by a day or more).
