I : I recommned MiraLAX as a first step. Amitiza (lubiprostone) is also good choice, but requires a prescription. Clearly, if a colonoscopy has never been performed, then it should per formed to exclude significant pathology.

Depends, usually yes: Tramadol is a quasi-narcotic which requires prescription, but not controlled by dea in same category as full narcotics like vicodin or percocet. If you have acute injury or flare-up of painful condition, urgent care can certainly treat you and prescribe tramadol if appropriate. But if you are looking to refill chronic (ongoing) prescription, they may refer you back to primary care or pain doc.

No, generally not: An urgent care center is not intended to be a place where skin biopsies are done.  Dermatologists, and some primary care doctors, do skin biopsies... and the patient returns to the doctor later to discuss the results of biopsies.  Urgent care centers are for treating new illnesses such as a stomach flu, colds and coughs, rashes such as poison oak or hives, etc...

Varies : It depends on wether or not you had an injury. With an in injury it could many things, from a knee sprain to a cartilage or ligament tear. Without an injury, it could be an infection, gout, or any number of rheumatoid like problems. Either way it sounds like you need a work up for knee pain.

Treat and refer: They would probably treat any acute pain and refer you either to a hospital er or a neurologist for further evaluation if they didn't feel there was any indication for acute referral to an er. You should see a doctor though who can take a thorough history and do an exam. The symptoms you describe can occasionally be indicative of more serious problems.

Need more info: Sometimes a complaint like this is caused by wax and or dryness. If the urgent care physician could not see anything wrong he/she would not see dryness was the reason for your complaint. If your hearing is OK, if you have not been swimming &amp; got water in your ear, if you have no ringing sound the chances are that there is nothing urgently wrong. Try using a product called Debrox to clean the canal

when i go to the hospital for upper gi issues, can i request a barium swallow instead of an endoscopy? also, can i go to an urgent care center for something as complex as gi issues?
