Treat and refer: They would probably treat any acute pain and refer you either to a hospital er or a neurologist for further evaluation if they didn't feel there was any indication for acute referral to an er. You should see a doctor though who can take a thorough history and do an exam. The symptoms you describe can occasionally be indicative of more serious problems.

May be TMJ: Do you clench or grind your teeth? Do you chew gum? Are you stressed in general? Do you eat a lot of chewy or crunchy foods? Are you missing teeth? If you answer yes to one or more of these questions your pain may be from your jaw joint. Go on a soft diet, use ice for 20 min 4 times a day or more on the spot that hurts and take alleve twice a day. If that helps, great. If not, see your doctor.
