Ulcer: Persistant acid symptoms with black tarry stools and abdominal pain is is danger sign for a bleeding gastric.  If you have such symptoms you should seek emergency care immediately.

my 60yr dad for the past couple of weeks has had symptoms of nausea,stomach upset, dizziness, & sometimes black stools.his upset stomach has gone away.dizziness has gotten worse has had a blood test &came back normal. scared its something serious?

: The black stools need to be investigated as this could be a sign of GI bleeding. He should see a GI doctor ASAP and possibly go to the nearest ER if these symptoms are ongoing. Anemia due to the GI bleeding could be causing his symptoms. Go to the ER with him if he continues with these symptoms so a GI doctor can see him ASAP. Good luck to both of you!

Not allergy: These are not typical allergy symptoms. If the problem worsens or persists for more than a week, you need to see your doctor. I am concerned that you may have a bleeding ulcer.

Ulcer?: If the black stools are more stinky than usual, it may be blood (stomach acid makes it look black...). See your doc asap. I am especially concerned that you avoid any Aspirin or nsaids (the whole group of them) until this is sorted out.

See primary care doc: Black stool can occur for various reasons, including from Pepto Bismal or iron supplements, or bleeding from the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. When from the GI tract (eg, bleeding ulcer), the stool tends to be sticky &amp; foul smelling. When having stomach pain &amp; black stool, it is important to get seen ASAP. The source of bleeding needs to be found and stopped.

Likely OK.: You might just have had some inflammation of the lining of your stomach because you likely drank so much.  Some blood might have been passed in your stomach/digestive tract, and caused your black stool.  Having said this, you're lucky you don't have a worse issue from drinking, and you should try to stop.  You could get ulcers, tears, and GI bleed, let alone liver damage, so try to quit.

No: The most common causes of black stool are peptobismol (or similar medications), iron supplements, and gastrointestinal bleeding.  If you haven't been taking peptobismol or iron and your stool is black (often tarry), you should see a doctor right away.

Likely: Time to see a doctor. Black stools may reflect only what you have eaten, or could be old blood firm stomach gastritis or an ulcer. I cannot tell what it is on this online forum. Needs a physician examination.
