Get it removed: Once infection is under control get it removed , most likely you have incision and drainage (i;d)  due to infection not complete removal. Speak to your surgeon , once completely removed will not come back. Check your blood sugar.

Look for other cause: Since the ovaries are way down in the pelvis, a woman with upper back pain should first look for all the causes of upper back pain. It sounds unlikely for an ovarian cyst to cause just upper back pain but not symptoms between the upper back and the pelvis. A primary care doctor can evaluate, as the upper back is actually the upper rib cage area.

my husband had a minor procedure done today and they did 3 stiches in his upper back area (they removed a small cyst) is it normal to have heavybleed?

Please call: your surgeon.  Heavy bleeding is not normal.  Meanwhile, apply continuous pressure   with a clean towel or gauze for 20 minutes every hour.   But  do have the doctor on call get back to you about this   tonight.

my friend got a cyst removed on his lower neck upper back. is it ok to sleep on his back? how should he sleep? he got 10 stitches. thanks.

Cyst removed: yes it is ok to sleep on his back.  Might want to make sure site had a bandage over it so he does not catch the stitches on the sheets/blankets.  Hope this helps.

i have started taking clindamycin about 48 hours ago for an infected cyst on my upper back, but i still haven't noticed any improvement... how long should i wait until i go to the hospital to have it drained?

can ovarian cysts cause persistent upper back ache and bone weakness / discomfort? i also have high esr and very low ferritin, all other blood normal.

More than one issue: Simple ovarian cysts should not cause backache. Low ferritin represents iron deficiency and you may have low blood count.  High ESR is usually associated with inflammation, infectious or non-infectious.  You have enough symptoms to warrant a consultation with a physician.

i have right achey pain from below my ribs to my  upper back and nauseous on and off since november . saw gyn and had an ultrasound .. negative for ovarian cysts, fibroids , iud misplacment and endometriosis. pcp didn't think it waw my gallbladder.

Gallbladder: Hi, considering the location of pain it sounds more like gallbladder or liver issue. You should have an ultrasound gallbladder related. And have your liver enzymes checked, and your bilirubin levels checked.

almost 25. when i was 23 for the first time in life i broke out in cystic acne over my upper back. i have pcos. my hormone panel normal. what is this?

Hyperandrogenic: Not sure what a "normal hormonal panel" means.  Different doctors look at (or do not know to look at) different hormones.  You obviously have an accentuated androgen response so that stimulation is coming from either ovary or adrenal, increase free testosterone, or overly sensitive hormone receptors in the skin tissue.

Usually not Bad: Depending on the  size of the cyst it is usually not very painful. The procedure can be done in the office under local if it is small.

Accepted Answer

BCP: Cysts on the ovaries come from failed ovulation.  Bcp's or depo-provera are very good at preventing cysts from returning by preventing the ovary from even trying to ovulate.
