Does OBGYN know?: Bleeding noted on underwear can come from several sources. One of the biggest concerns is bleeding from the uterus or placenta. An OB doctor would want to know about recurring or heavy bleeding.

Blood anywhere: Caution is suggested when there is blood on any surface especially near your moist tissue areas like genitals, mouth, eyes. Consider a visit to your local clinic for baseline tests. Practice safe sex. Follow up with your local healthcare provider.

Low risk...: Hiv does not live outside of the body.  This is a definite low risk scenario.

Good Q for OB: Have you had any problems with the pregnancy, especially the placenta? Have you undergone an amniocentesis? Are you having any unusual bowel activity? What tests did the doctor do on the discharge? Are you leaking otherwise clear fluid or greenish fluid? It would help to have that information so we can give an answer.  Thanks for asking.

i went to put on my clean underwear & i see a light brown dot in front of the underwear. i took it off and sprayed it with clorox & it turned white right away . am i at risk for a disease and or if it was blood from when i picked it up or something?

: Not at risk for anything from any spot on your underwear especially after spraying with clorox. In fact you are unlikely to have any problems from underlothes that ahe been washed unless you allergic to detergent or soap used. Hope youu have rinsed out Clorox as skin contact with it could certainly irritate your skin.

i have a huge problem with all my underwear turning black in the croch. its not blood im menopausal. its like the moisture is mildewing them quickly or i have to much acid in my urine. what do you recommend? what tests are there available?

: If you have no rash or irritation in the area- Wash with soap and water,  use a cotton underwear and for a few days change them twice a day. If not better you will have to be seen by your Gyn

Usually not much: Depending on how long your cycle is, it could be ovulation.  It could be cervical irritation.  If other symptom or worried an exam can help.

It may be spotting: of dark blood. Dark blood is usually older, deoxygenated blood being cleaned from the uterus.  May be residual from your period or hormonal imbalance.

Hormonal imbalance: Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.
