Not likely: if ultrasound was a dedicated study done in various positions.  Consult with a surgeon regarding options for treatment, such as injection or even surgical exploration, if you have continued symptoms.

What kind?: of hernia are you talking about? Are you meaning a hiatal hernia? I think the idea of an inguinal hernia is what you are after. The CT might not show it if it is not protruding as well as the ultrasound. If you feel no lump and the doc cannot you may have made the wrong dx. See your local surgeon for a second opinion.

Athletic pubalgia: can cause this and is seen in those who do running type exercise (usually). The tendons that insert on the pubic bone can become inflamed or thickened. If this fits the picture then MRI is the best choice for looking at the area.

"Navel lump" ?'s: In a male, a "lump" near the navel showing a "asymmetric echogenic structure" may simply represent herniation of peritoneal membrane through a defect which could evolve into a hernia containing bowel if enlarged or after strenuous exercise.  This should be followed by a surgical consult if enlargement is noted, to prevent problems from an intestinal hernia.

pain to the left side of my belly button a couple of months, felt a little tear lifting heavy object. digestive issues and gas pains in that area. cant tolerate any waist band. ultrasound and ct scan showed nothing. could it be spigelian hernia?

: No, you probably injured the fascia or muscle and it will take 6-8 weeks to heal. Avoid heavy lifting.

Yes, on chest ct : Hiatal hernia should be able to be visualized on a chest ct unless it is very small .  It usually wouldn't be visualized on liver/gallbladder ultrasounds.  It might be visualized on x rays if it is large enough.

Probably, but....: The CT image without contrast can show a suspension of some altered image of the included tissues/organs like suspecting hiatal hernia, and that with contrast can enhance the anatomical delineation of tissues/organs so to almost 100% assurance of hiatal hernia. Remember: Almost all medical care is based on INDIRECT evidence from accumulated experience; like wise, it is true for hiatal hernia. Best

Hernia: If you're referring to a groin or inguinal hernia, all you need to diagnose it is a physical examination. However it can be also diagnosed by ultrasound, ct scan or an mri if there's any doubt.
