i had a growth ultrasound of my baby at 36 weeks & 2 days. my baby boy was measuring 6lbs & 12oz. does this mean he will be a big baby at birth? my stomach has been measuring on time the entire pregnancy but i'm a little worried he is big?

: His weight is within normal range, please discuss his newborn exam with his Pediatrician. Nursing is the best form of nutrition for your baby. A number of resources are available for new parents, including the AAP Healthy Children website. Very high: That's great and you couldn't expect anything more at this point in the pregnancy. A vaginal delivery is dependent on the size of the baby, and the shape of the woman's pelvis. Of course, those can be out of your control. Good luck!

our baby is at 36 weeks. the recent ultrasound showed growth from 35% to 37%. there may also be increased blood flow to the brain.  should we worry?

Ok: An average baby will be measured at 50% in growth. Your baby's size is a little below average, but entirely normal. Interestingly, these measurements have nothing to do with the adult size/heighth of your child. I've never seen a report of increased blood flow to the brain, so i'm not sure of the significance of that...Probably good if anything.

i am 36 weeks preg. and an ultrasound just revealed my baby is breech. what can i do to help her turn around so i can deliver vaginaly?

Not much: You could ask your doctor if he/she is willing to do an external cephalic version.  This is a procedure where 1-2 doctors manually attempt to essentially flip your baby.  Not all of us still do this.

my 32 weeker (now 36 weeks corrected) had a head ultrasound that states suspected evolving right germinal matrix hemorrhage with questionable intraventricular extension what does this mean & what does it mean for her future?

: The baby will have a neurologic examination at birth and during the follow up visits with her Pediatrician. Developmental milestones will be followed. The head ultrasound may be less accurate in utero and a follow up study may include another head imaging study after birth.  Please follow up with your OB for a safe and healthy pregnancy.

i'm 36 weeks obgyn said baby head was low with ultrasound yesterday does that mean she will come soon. my first daughter came at 38 weeks. i was 1cm dilated and still thick when she checked me at 34 weeks she didn't check me yesterday.

Maybe maybe not: Your body will know when its time for labor.  Many multiparous women are dilated 2-3 cm by term and sometimes are quite low in the pelvis.  Remember most OB docs have an answering service, so if you start having some labor pains that are regular call the office number even if after hours and talk with your OB.  I don't check often at 36 weeks myself.  Too many exams increase infection.

i am 36 weeks pregnant. ultrasound showed 6lbs1oz. my fundal height is measuring 35 cm. it's been perfect until now. is this normal when baby drops?

It seems OK: You and your unborn baby appear to be doing well.  
If "the baby drops", the head becomes "engaged" into your pelvis and the baby's kick count remains good..., your odds of keeping your pregnancy "perfect", of going into normal spontaneous  labor after39 weeks and delivering a healthy baby seem very good.

Can not conclude: Based on this information of the head being low  no conclusions can be made regarding the likely onset of labor. If you are contracting   then see your doctor for a cervical exam. If you have other concerns for preterm labor schedule a follow up so that your risk can be assessed.

daughter is 36 weeks pregnant. dr called and said her ultrasound showed the baby had the a thin walled stomach. what does this mean? scared to death

Accepted Answer

Right now, nothing: If the OB MD, who did the ultrasound, found other possible abnormalities indicative of a major problem, then the "thin stomach wall" result would have more meaning. If your daughter is still concerned, have her ask the sonographer if there is any significance. Otherwise, the baby will be fully evaluated by the Pediatrician/Neonatologist after delivery.
