Depends on where: the nerve is being impinged.  If it at the usual place in the ulnar groove at your elbow, you would need an elbow pad, not a wrist brace

Simple but effective: Not a cure, but try this buy 2 simple items: a terrycloth tennis towel ( sold in sports stores ) and a pull-on neoprene ( body glove) tube wrist support: wear the pull on neoprene support OVER the tennis towel and use OTC antiinflammatory meds like Advil or Aleve (naproxen) ( if not allergic)

i had surgery on my wrist a few months ago still having semi severe problems had surgery august 2011 still feels like a sprain and if i touch the ulna just right have shooting pain through pinky and adjacent finger

You : You may have problems to the ulnar nerve at the wrist. This is called the guyon's canal. A nerve conduction study may be needed. Discuss the situation with your doctor, if symptoms don't improve you may need surgery to relieve the symptoms.

Depends: You could easily have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in both hands.  Especially if you have a high risk job.  It is not uncommon to release both sides in patients.

i broke my ulna and radius. will this affect my ability to use my hand?

Accepted Answer

It certainly may: The break (fracture) extends into a joint itself in an adult.  In such cases it may be very important to restore the joint by surgery.
In children it is not rare that both forearm bones are broken like a green stick snapping (we call these "greenstick" fractures); usually treated well in a cast, often including the elbow.
In adults, "both bone" forearm fractures usually require surgery to fix.

Any pain?: The head of the ulna can be prominent after a broken wrist. I you are not having any pain i would recommend observation. You do have options if you are having pain.

TFCC tears are...: not easily diagnosed, or, unfortunately, treated.  Since you have this diagnosis, I assume you've already seen an orthopedist and/or a physical therapist.  It sounds like you're experiencing a significant amount of discomfort and disability.  You would be wise to direct your concerns to them.   I wish you the best.

If chronic follow-up: Vague wrist pain can have numerous causes from simple sprains to significant fractures or ligament tears which are not always as painful as you might think. If this is due to a trauma such as a fall, you should get it looked at with an x-ray. Sometimes an MRI is needed to look at the light garments and soft tissues which can be painful. Get it. Hacked out.

hi, i was playing volleyball 3 nights ago, and i hit the ball weird. the next morning, my hand just above ulna hurt when i bend up/pressure. not sure of swelling since i went to bed right after. been wrapping it, how much longer should i do that?

: You probably have a mild sprain. If no swelling put warm to hot compresses around wrist for the next few days. If no results than see a orthopedist for exam and possible x-ray. You can take Advil or a Tylenol if pain persists.
