Not for this: Zyrtec (cetirizine) is not used for uc. There are other meds for that. You should see your gastroenterologist for treatment, management, and monitoring.

No need to worry: Zyrtec (cetirizine) does not cause any exacerbation of your symptoms.

Yes: Yes , if it helps you and make you feel better,  sorry you are suffering for 8 years from this terrible disease, make sure go go for regular colonoscopy examination, incidence of malignancy increases with time, some intractable cases even may need a total colectomy , follow your doctor(s) advise.

Can wait a bit: Azapress is known as azathioprine - it is an immunosuppressive drug that is used in many conditions including uc.  This agent has a delayed onset of action and at 6 months of therapy was shown to have approximately a 75% remission rate in uc.  In many cases, patients given aza have failed steroids or are steroid dependent.  It is more appropriate for maintenance of remission rather than treatment.

i take 4.8 g of lialda for my ulcerative colitis. there is a possibility i took one extra 1.2 g pill today. is this something to be concerned about?

Unlikely: As one extra pill is not likely to lead to any concerning symptoms.  This isnt' anywhere near toxicity levels.  But if it's something you are concerned about, always feel comfortable review this with your gastroenterologist.  Best of luck

Oral or rectal: You can take them as pills, which would deliver medication to the entire colon. Or you can take an enema preparation, which would deliver the medication to the left side of the colon. This would only be useful for treating disease limited to the left side of the bowel.

Why would you?: Large double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trials have shown echinacea to be ineffective.

No one is sure: No one is exactly sure of the exact cause of ulcerative colitis. It is n autoimmune disease but why some people get it is unknown. Have you thought about surgery? Removing your colon is curative.

It appears anytime: It can develop at any age, even in people with completely no symptoms before. Sometimes smoking masks it. If you are having bloody stool please be seen.

i have chronic constipation, and inactive ulcerative colitis. i take mirolax daily. if i stop, i become constipated, even with one dose, but i'm having awful mushy leaky bowels many times a day, and i don't know how to control it?

Accepted Answer

: I would suggest combining stool softener with half dose of miralax daily as a trial or you only take miralax, every other day. There is nothing wrong if you only have bowel movement every other day, even several ones on that day.
I assume you already tried daily exercise, good hydration and high fiber foods for combating chronic constipation.
