Mood swing duration: The two conditions have a lot of overlap although the more important distinctions are that bipolar disorder type two would imply that the patient will have changes in mood that would last weeks including either hypomania or depressed mood as opposed to changes in mood in the same day.  Additionally, patients with borderline personality disorder are excessively reactive to closeness or abandonment.

A true split personality is known a Dissociative identity Disorder in which 2 personalities or more coexist in 1 person at the same time. PDs /DID have interpersonal issues and need professional help

Augmentation of individual  therapy, such as dialectical behavioral therapy (dbt), and group therapy  may occur with medication classes including antidepressants and mood stabilizers including  anticonvulsants and atypical antipsychotics.

Borderline PD: A pt may be diagnosed with borderline PD, may be or described as having borderline "traits". Persons who suffer from borderline PD, will, of course, all be different from one another and experience their illness in their own, personal way. Some traits include: trouble regulating emotions, impulsivity, frantic efforts to avoid abandonment, recurrent self harm. Talk with ur doc abt treatment :)
