Same as for sprains: Turf toe is an sprain injury at the joint between the big toe and the forefoot. Cold packs can help. Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin for 3 days, no weight-bearing for 3 days, taping or splinting the toe joint, wearing a non-flexible shoe, avoiding sports for a few days, etc..., all can help relieve the pain.

Turf toe: Turf toe is an actual sprain of the metatarsal phalangeal joint usually associated with the big toe. X-rays should be taken to make sure its nothing mote serious. It occurs when the toe is hyperextended or hyperflexed. Treatment often involves ice, elevation nsaid's and off weight bearing and sometimes a stable orthotic maybe needed. I recommend seeing a podiatrist or orthopedic surgeon.

Turf toe sprain: Were casting and surgery involved? Usually I tell patients with  sprains that they may take longer than a fracture to heal or over 6 weeks, especially if reinjury occurs. Think about what might be causing repeat injury and see your othopedic specialist or podiatrist for follow up.

Need to be exam: If you gave it some time and had it treated by taping nsaids, etc. Was a xray  done to rule out any pathology. Please get exam by a professional.

Limits motion: If you have a spur on the ball of your foot this t-strap will not do much for you. It essentially stabilizes the toe and keeps you from dorsiflexing completely. If you pain is with motion at the joint then yes this strap may help you. If your pain is in the ball of your foot then you may need something more for padding to offload the area.

Xray : The only way to tell the difference is an X-ray.  The treatment is essentially the same though. Buddy taping and rest until healed.

Bad Foot Mechanics: Faulty foot mechanics or shoes commonly result in a lot of issues with the big toe joint. You need to see a podiatrist for further evaluation.
