Sometimes: The symptoms of true turf toe may be mild to severe. True turf toe occurs on the hallux (big toe) with a hyperextension of the joint causing structural injury to the hallux and sometimes the big toe joint. The area must be immobilized and if symptoms persist seek out a good sports medicine podiatrist or M.D.

Depends : On degree of turf toe. It can be extremely painful depending how much damage was done and worst cases need surgery but most need immobilization and need to be in walking boot. Need MRI to tell what degree it is so see your local podiatrist.
