Need Blood Test/ultr: You need a ultrasound and tsh, freet4, T3 (liothyronine) levels and you may or may not need a boipsy of the left lobe of thyroid to find the proper treatment
consult your endocrinologist if you have not done so.

Two hours: Does depend on any prior scarring, procedures invasion, and speed of the particular surgeon- very careful, is the key since important adjacent structures.

i had a partial thyroidectomy in 2012 to remove a tumor. the past few weeks i've noticed a large bump and it is hurting very badly. hard 2 breathe ?

Lump: You must go to the nearest Emergency Room as soon as you can.

If there is something major wrong they will take care of it and if things aren't too bad that will take care of that as well.

Synthroid (thyroxine) is: The synthroid (thyroxine) is appropriate treatment for the high tsh, which reflects an inadequate supply of thyroid hormone.  I would not prescribe a weight loss drug such as Phentermine until the thyroid hormone level has been normalized, which will take 6-8 weeks.

i had a total thyroidectomy with pathology of hyalinizing trabecular tumor. but i have thyroglobulin antibodies how come? also can't get tsh down

Hypothyroidism: The thyroid condition you have is rare and is considered by many a variant of papillary carcinoma which commonly arises in chronic thyroiditis as indicated by your elevated thyroglobulin antibodies. The destruction of normal thyroid cells from chronic inflammation or complete surgical removal leads to hypothyroidism reflected by elevated tsh. See your endocrinologist for treatment.

6 weeks after thyroidectomy tall cell free t4 2.1 tsh 0.71 tg less than 0.1 tgab less than 1.8 have not had radioactive iodine. are these numbers good and is it normal to have these numbers if no rai? 8mm tumor 2 nodes of 2 taken distant metastisis?

: We would have to be given the normal values for these levels to answer your question.  Since radioactive iodine with or without hormone therapy is rather standard treatment for metastatic thyroid cancer ,I wonder if it is going to be administered to you. I assume you're being treated and followed by the head&amp; neck surgeon as well as by an oncologist with an interest in thyroid cancer treatment

hi just had part. thyroidectomy 6 days ago and how soon can i expect the pain (the thyroid pain, not the incision/swollenness) to go away? i'm talking about the burning pain from the tumor all over my body. if pain isn't from tumor, where is it from?

: Are you implying that your thyroid tumor was malignant&amp; you're concerned that there is spread of thyroid cancer throughout your body causing generalized pain? The brain communicates with the skin&amp; if you have such concern, your skin may be sensitized. I doubt you have widespread thyroid cancer&amp; hope you can be reassured by your physicians which I believe  will alleviate your pain.

tumor: This tumor is considered by most to be benign.  Your TSH will rise if there is no hormone replacement of if your hormone replacement isn't high enough.  This is a very very rare tumor.

Why thyroidectomy?: Hi. Was it thyroid cancer? Most likely reason for total thyroidectomy. Best diet: healthy one! Whole grains, nuts, legumes, fruits &amp; veggies, healthy oils (canola &amp; olive), lean meats, nonfat dairy; little or no white flour, white rice, simple sugar, high fructose corn syrup. Best of luck with your thyroid cancer!

what's the recovery time from a thyroidectomy?

Normally a few days: For routine thyroid surgery, such as for graves disease or a benign nodule, surgery can be done on an outpatient basis and recovery is fairly fast.  Hormone replacement begins immediately.  For cancer surgery, the procedure may be more extensive and recovery may be longer.  If there are complications, such as low blood calcium, or a hoarse voice, then other outpatient treatments will be needed.
