Serotonin Syndrome: Yes it can.  Triptans are all serotonin agonists.  Too much serotonin can cause seizures.  Be careful mixing triptans with drugs like ultram or ssri antidepressants.

Triptans/SRIs: Triptans are serotonin receptor agonists, hence cause increase serotonin. The ssri/snris are serotonin reuptake inhibitors, hence also raise serotonin. End result, depending on dose & how often used, is possibility of serotonin syndrome. Caution is needed if combination.

No, a narcotic: Hydrocodone is a narcotic, not a triptan.  Triptans are actually quite effective for migraines, while hydrocodone is much more prone to causing a medication overuse headache.

Accepted Answer

No alcohol: Alcohol is a poison and it never did anybody any good, ever. So stay away from it. It is doubly bad to mix alcohol and medications.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

Triptans &amp; others: As a rule of thumb...no abortive medication for migraine headaches (such as triptans) should be taken more than twice in 24 hrs. (meaning 2 doses) or more than 4 times in 7 days (4 doses).  And yes, they can and do cause rebound headaches. Keeping track of your headaches &amp; medication doses as you decrease their use may show you how this phenomenon works. See a headache specialist for more details.

See neurologist: Sometimes bcp may help. Others may benefit from a beta blocker or calcium-channel blocker..   For those with &gt;15 migraines a month, the fda has approved Botox for the condition.

i have been diagnosed with both migraine, and raynaude's.  nearly died on ergomar.  would it be safe for me to try a triptan?

Cautiously: Ergotamine was once the magic treatment for migraine.  However too many developed bad side effects.  It is now rarely used.  Triptans became the new magic.  We are seeing many with side effects.  It may be magic or misery.  Low dose sumatriptan with naprosyn (naproxen) may be quite effective.

i take triptans to control migraine. but i heared that this could have a negative side effect on my kidneys. is this true?

Perhaps: Triptans are great for stopping migraine headaches, but too often and/or too much could cause stroke or heart attacks.  If you have high blood pressure, the triptan could make it worse, and thereby damage your kidneys, besides the other risk factors involved.  See your doctor and make sure that this is the best approach to treat your migraines.

headaches for 7 months post head injury.ct scan clear.i think they are bp related as they come on when stressed/angry.neurologist says migraine + asked gp to issue candesartan and triptan. gp has not issued triptan, seems reluctant.why would this be?

: I would assume your family doctor is cautious because your blood pressure is high so he (she) wants to control BP first and if headache persists, a triptan will be added because triptan can increase blood pressure which is one of its side effect.
