Yes,given less walks: Knee arthritis often limits the amount of distance a patient can walk. The muscles in the lower leg help get fluid from the leg back to the heart and require a good amount of walking ideally at least 2500 steps a day. Otherwise, fluid can pool around the ankle. Also since arthritis goes all over the body an exam by Podiatry to check for ankle arthritis or sprain is indicated.PT or taping can help.

Medications: There are many different meds like nsaid's, tylenol, (acetaminophen) and Codeine deriative meds.  It is very important to incorporate diet, weight loss, and daily physical therapy exercises medications to optimize the treatment.

It can be...: Aspirin certainly can be helpful for arthritis pain.  Depending on the severity of the pain and whether it is contant or intermittent pain you may need something more regularly.  Aspirin is not known to induce cardiovascular disease, indeed it can be preventative (though generally only recommended for prevention of a second heart attack, not a first).  You might try Glucosamine and Cod LIver Oil.

Knee pain : Celebrex is less like to cause stomach irritation. All but aspirin raise your risk for a cardiovascular event. Tynonol is safer (except with liver disease) .  What is better considering physical therapy and losing excess weight. Even with advanced arthritis, there is a benefit with physical therapy especially strengthening exercises. Osteomyelitis: You really need to see an orthopedic surgeon with interest in arthritis & osteomyelitis--good exam and up to date imaging.
