Heat: Try to heat the area and then passive stretching exercises this will help you but will take a few days. Also could take soaringly over the counter a level or iboprophen but not consistently

Need evaluation: Please see a doctor. Swollen leg is not same as pain. Pain has your attention, swelling has mine.

Have it evaluated: It sounds as is you have an inflammatory arthritis. If this onset occurred suddenly it may be viral. There are numerous other causes , however. Have it evaluated.

Poss: cauda equina: Your symptoms are worrisome for critical spinal stenosis and possibly features of cauda equina syndrome and require immediate evaluation with imaging tests.  There is no "L7" vertebra, but you probably had L5 pars fractures as a child, and a spondylolisthetic slippage is causing these problems.  Look up spondylolysis with spondylolisthesis.

Depends: The extent of the tear, your ability to rest and stretch the injured area, and the type of work you are returning to are important factors your doctor will have to consider.   If medications and rest aren't making a difference yet, seek the help of a physiatrist (pm&r)  to upgrade your therapy with modalities that speed circulation and healing.

Identify cause: There is a reason why you had swelling and back spasm to begin with.  Seek a primary care sports medicine specialist to identify the cause, see if it is amenable to physical therapy and potential ergonomics changes to your bike.

See below: Most minor muscle strains will go away on there own. Heat, gentle stretching, tylenol, (acetaminophen) anti-inflammatories can be helpful for many. Important not to spend too much time laid up in bed as this does not help. If the pain is severe and debilitating, see your doctor.

Sometimes: There are many reasons for scoliosis. It is unknown whether muscle imbalance is part of the reason for scoliosis with most adolescents. Muscle imbalance can however cause scoliosis in cases involving cerebral palsy, myelomeningocele, tumors, etc. Scoliois can also be due to arthritis and idiopathic (meaning we are unsure of the exact cause).

Possibly: Muscle imbalances can indeed cause scoliosis, but more likely to occur in the setting of a neuromuscular disease (muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, quadriplegia or paraplegia from spinal cord injury, stroke in a young person, multiple sclerosis with paralysis, etc). Existing scoliosis can worsen with certain postures & muscle imbalances.  It should be monitored for worsening.
