Prolonged therapy may be necessary.  It is also important to determine the cause of the aspiration, so that recurrence is minimized and that the primary problem is dealt with.

Yes: Thankfully treatment of neuroblastoma has improved dramatically over the last decade. That is not to say that all children are curable; the outcome is greatly dependent on the risk stratification that your oncologist perform to tailor treatment. As expected children in the high risk group do not do as well as those in the low risk group.

Von Willebrand dz: This is due to an inherited defect in a blood coagulation factor.  There are several types, which vary in severity.  Did your friend experience excessive blood loss during delivery?  That can be a sign.  There are many other possible signs, including tendencies towards bruising and nose bleeds.  Best for your friend to see a haemotologist for evaluation.

No: Treatment is not essential however treatment will cause area to possible resolve quicker and decrease scarring and possible color change. Topical medications are only partially effective but do not have side effects. Oral medications effect is variable.
