Glaucoma?: I am guessing you have glaucoma.  This can be treated with proper medication and laser or surgery if that fails.  Seeing your ophthalmologist regularly gives you an excellent chance to preserve what vision remains.

Usually: Treatment involves getting the pressure below the damage threshold, usually in the mid to lower teens.  There is effective medication which will usually do this but laser and operative surgery generally can take care of those not responsive enough to the medication..  Maintain a close relationship with your ophthalmologist (you aren't seeing an optometrist, are you?).

Both: Your general ophthalmologist can provide the appropriate care in most instances. If  it is necessary to see a glaucoma specialist, he/she will likely refer you to one at the appropriate time. You can always seek a second opinion with a glaucoma specialist as well or follow with one as you are fit.

i heard that glycopyrrolate promote optic nerve regeneration. can i ask my doctor to prescribe it since i have optic nerve damage in one eye?

: You can hear whatever you wish, BUT, Glycopyrrolate is used to treat ulcers, in concert with other medications, and has anticholinergic properties.  It is not used in ophthalmology.   There is no drug to restore chronic optic nerve damage.  You certainly can ask your doctor about this product and updates in treating eye disorders.

No: Damage to the optic nerve can not be undone. What was the reason you have optic nerve damage? If you have an ongoing reason for optic nerve damage, you should be followed by an ophthalmologist.

Cornea transplant: Unfortunately, we have limited treatment options for optic nerve damage and can not yet transplant a whole eye. Optic nerve damage can occur for a large number of reasons, and that should be evaluated to make evaluated because some forms are progressive unless treated. We can transplant the various layers of the cornea, the front clear window of the eye.

Optic atrophy: Externally the eye may seem just fine, but if the retina is examined via ophthalmological tools, the disc may look small and pale, the blood vessels may have changed, and the visual acuity drops quite significantly.

Glaucoma: I think you're quite fortunate. Keep regular appointments with your ophthalmologist to monitor your intraocular pressure. If it is kept normal, your prognosis is excellent.

Of course: Glaucoma is a problem in which the internal eye pressure exceeds the eyes capacity to resist that pressure.  Almost always there are no symptoms early in the disease but later vision can be affected.  That is why we recommend an eye exam every year or two in people over age 40.  The course is slow, and there is plenty of time to use corrective drops.  Was your pressure always taken?
