In some cases, a small cyst can simply be observed over time to see if it grows. In other cases, the doctor can perform a minor procedure in the office, in which a small tube is inserted into the cyst]and inflated to keep it in place.

i have infected renal cyst (aspirated) e coli also a perinephric abscess. i have been on rocephin (ceftriaxone) for 4 weeks. how long should treatment last?

Need more info: Ceftriaxone is good therapy if the e. Coli is sensitive in vitro, the abscess has been drained, and the precipitating cause removed. 4-6 weeks of treatment is appropriate, but before dcing therapy need WBC count, esr, CRP and results of imaging studies in follow-up. Consult with your urologist, infectious diseases doctor or both. Hope this is cured soon.

ever since i was 9-10, i had pubic hair. since 11-12, i started getting painful bumps on my vulva. if popped, pus comes out. i always have them, when some go down, more go up. i think they are cysts/abscesses. is this normal? is there a treatment?

: These are likely pustules formed in the hair roots after the area is contaminated with staph germs. These often hide in the moist membranes of the nose and end up on your fingers. Transfer to any site you touch is possible. A thin layer of antibiotic ointment applied inside the nasal outlet along with weekly baths with a cup or 2 of bleach can reduce frequency. Your doc may propose other treatment

Surgeon, and no.: If you truly have a pilonidal cyst, especially if it may be infected, then you need to see a surgeon for definitive treatment.  There would be no home remedy for this, unfortunately.

hi i am receiving antibiotic treatment for a posible tubo-ovarian abscess or complex ovarian cyst. the infectious disease specialist is unsure and i cant see a obgy rightnow. is it safe for me to fly by plane from texas to ny? can something rupture?

Bartholin cyst: Asymptomatic swelling of the labia due to a cyst is uaually "asymptomatic" even with intercourse.

Maybe: Fluid-filled cysts can be drained and that may help for a long time.  But the fluid sometimes returns.  If it is not bothering you, then you can do nothing.  If it is, then you can have the whole cyst removed.  Before doing any surgery, even minor, get two opinions though.

Options include: If the cyst isn't bothering you, you don't have to do anything.  If you do nothing it may continue to enlarge.  You can drain a cyst but it will it will generally just fill up again.  If the cyst bothers you or is in a bad location I would recommend removing the cyst.  This can usually be done in the office under local.
