a drop of raw pork blood splashed into my eye. what are the health risks? can i get a tapeworm from this incident?

No risk, no worry: Blood never transmits tapeworm. In the distant past, pork was more likely to carry trichinosis, a parastici disease (very different than tape worm), but that hasn't been a problem in the US or other industrialized countries for over 50 years. There may be rare exceptions for improperly raised hogs on small family farms, but never for commercial pork, which is just as safe as beef, chicken, etc.

i ate something that had pork on it unknowingly, now i have rush and my eyes are swollen.i think i am allergic to it, please help on which medications i can get or what to do. thank you. ?

Antihistamine: For allergic reactions, the first line treatment to start at home is an Antihistamine. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is very effective in the short term and can resolve the issue or give you time to get to the Dr. If you experience lip/tongue swelling or feeling your throat closing, call an ambulance immediately.

Sure: Think of raw animal products as potentially contaminated. Wash your hands before and after touching raw animal products; watch utensils-don't mix.

Accepted Answer

No: You must ingest the eggs of worms to have them take residence in your body.  People pet cats (and dogs) all the time and do not get parasites.

while i did grocery shopping i touched one of my eyes because it was itchy. afterwards i noticed that my hand had some tiny pieces of raw meat attached to it (salmon fish). did i risk getting some bacteria or parasite by this accident?

: Maybe/not. The natural tear film of the eyes has some antibacterial effect. I would not assume you were exposed &amp; will develop some bad infection but would be aware and have it checked out if problems arise.

my sister had manicure and came touched surfaces in the house before washing her hands. if there was some blood on equipment is it possible to transmit hiv positive blood by hand? is it safe to touch my mouth eyes after touching places she touched?

No risk, no worry: Nobody in the world ever caught HIV in this way. The household members of people with HIV never catch it, even after years of sharing kitchens, toilets, eating utensils, etc. The virus is never acquired from a conttaminated environment. Also, having a manicure is no risk; nobody ever caught HIV that way, even if instruments were not cleaned between customers. Don&#x27;t worry about it.

No: Fortunately, HIV viral infections are not typically spread in that manner.

Notice this: Cold sores are very common. Herpes in the eye is rare. Your immunity does not destroy dormant virus in a nerve, but contains it otherwise so it remains localized to the area of 1 nerve. So the cold sore comes back to the same place but only that place. Prescription Acyclovir or valacyclovir taken at the prodrome (initial tingling) will attenuate the symptoms. The pill is also used as a daily dose.

touched eye after handling raw chicken. tear duct is sore almost a week later. no redness. could this resolve on its own? anything to watch for?

Yes: The difficult problem is knowing what you mean by sore tear duct. The inner corner of your eyelid has a drainage hole (punctum) that allows tears to drain into your nose via nasolacrimal duct. If you had an infection from the chicken, I'd expect much more yellowish discharge from eyeball. However if you're very tender in the corner with eyelid redness/swelling, get it checked by Eye MD. ?antibiotc

Saline eye wash: A saline eye wash is best. Sterile water works also.
