A member asked:

Touched eye after handling raw chicken. tear duct is sore almost a week later. no redness. could this resolve on its own? anything to watch for?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: The difficult problem is knowing what you mean by sore tear duct. The inner corner of your eyelid has a drainage hole (punctum) that allows tears to drain into your nose via nasolacrimal duct. If you had an infection from the chicken, I'd expect much more yellowish discharge from eyeball. However if you're very tender in the corner with eyelid redness/swelling, get it checked by Eye MD. ?antibiotc
