i have a torn tendon on the bottom of my elbow plus cartilage and ligament damage which is very painful. how is it ever going to get better?

Surgery: Most tendon ruptures require surgical repair because of the deformity that occurs within the tendon structure just prior its failure ie. Rupture. It's called plastic deformation and the tendon changes are not reversible.  Ultimate tensile failure is the term for tendon rupture when the forces exceed the strength of the tendon fibers.

are there any risks[ie tendon rupture] for having steriod injection for conditions like tennis elbow? thanks

I do not think so: Tendon rupture may happen in other locations but in the elbow.
Cortisone shots carry a risk of complications, such as: 
death of nearby bone
 joint infection
 nerve damage
 skin and soft tissue thinning around injection site
 temporary flare of pain and inflammation in the joint
 tendon weakening or rupture
 thinning of nearby bone (osteoporosis)
 whitening or lightening of the skin at the site.

out of cast after 4 weeks(long arm) muscles in forearm tight n painful n numbness in thumb normal post cast? i had epychondolitis n torn tendon

Accepted Answer

Can be expected --: Stiffness from being in a cast for 4 weeks. Numbness maybe from cast being too tight or the cotton padding may have bunched up causing a local neuritis, which should clear up in 2-3 weeks time. As you exercise the tight muscles should loosen up and get stronger, reducing the stiffness as well.
Massage/stretching exercises would help the epicondylitis. The doc should advise re: the torn tendon!

3wks into 6wk casting for partially torn tendon in elbow been on ibuprofen for 3 months is it ok to still take it or should i look at other pain relief?

Check w/ your MD: If you have no contraindications for taking Ibuprofen ( check w/ your md) than if it is helping you can continue to take it. Hope your elbow gets better!

Expectation: You probably had high expectations. 
It takes time and need to undergo physical therapy to have good results.

went to urgent care, dr rec x ray of elbow & said it looks fine. dx = strained tricep tendon.  recd sling/ice/meds/rest. how do i know its not torn?

Triceps tendon: Firstly an X-Ray will not tell you this. You either need an Ultrasound or an MRI to determine a tear.

i think i may have torn a tendon connecting my bicep to my elbow. should i go and consultant with my gp or should i seek a specialist? if i need a specialist what kind of specialist should i look for?

i'm 24 years old my left distal bicep tendon rupture popeye about a year ago i lost strength in my left arm with surgery will i regain my strength?

You could: Tendon needs reattachment other wise will not improve strength and also can develop atrophy see an orthopedic doc.

i have had pain in my brachioradialis muscle for months and my bicep is getting weaker. the tendons just below the bicep towards the elbow joint are sore when doing a bicep curl. could something be torn? i dont recall a sudden injury occurring.

Get an exam and a Dx: Pain in the brachioradialis is quite unusual. It could be a tennis elbow or a biceps tendinitis? If there wasn't a sudden injury there may have been an overuse activity/exercise. In any case, you need to see an orthopedic/sports medicine doctor to establish a correct diagnosis (Dx). Then treatment can start. There is no quick fix. Typically PT and/or a steroid injection may help.
