Torus Palatinus: Tori do not increase and decrease in size over time. They stay the same or may grow larger. Either it's not a torus or you just become more and less aware of it. It may get intermittently irritated. Regardless, have your General Dentist or an Oral Surgeon examine you for a definitive diagnosis and the answer to your question.

Depends: Recovery from oral tori surgery depends on how extensive the surgery is - a few areas or many?  Also it depends on you capacity to heal.  You can expect it to take weeks for initial recovery  and then months for the bone to heal. Consult an oral surgeon for further details.  Good luck.

X-rays: Can be difficult to position because of Tori, no matter what office has to take them.  Perhaps your Dentist could use topical anesthetic.  Discuss your concerns with your Dentist.  If you are not satisfied with the answer, seek a second opinion.

Have it looked at: In over 30 years i don't recall ever seeing a palatal torus that was not along the midline.  I would have your dentist or an oral surgeon look at it.

i have bony growths on my external upper and lower gums. i believe they are tori? can they be removed? what kind of procedure? my dentist isnt concerned but i am?

: You are correct, they are tori and harmless. Only need to have them removed if you are making a full denture. See an oral surgeon for an evaluation and cost estimate if you really want them removed.

Normal: Tori are normal bony growths on the plate  or the lower jaw. They are not cancer so don't worry. They tend to get larger with age. Unless they interfere with your daily functions there is no reason to remove them.  The surgery can be brutal.

i felt a bony growth on my head, approx. 2 inches above my forehead. it doesn't hurt and it's hard. could this be an osteoma? no other symptoms. i also have mandibular tori. are those two related?

Not Related: Tori in the jaw are genetic, seem to be made worse if you clench and grind your teeth a lot, but the bump on the frontal bone suggests something unusual is going on please get it checked  so that you know what to do or can relax about it.

i have a small rough white patch on my lower gums under my teeth - what could this be? i have tori on my upper gums above my teeth maybe that on the bottom now? also not painful and bled when scratched?

: This is not a canker sore since no pain present. Could be Leukoplakia, Oral thrush, or Oral lichen planus. Also an infection in gums or an oral injury. See your dentist for exam and treatment.
