Pressure: When you lay down the blood vessels get dilated with a little more blood.  This can place more pressure on the nerves.  When you are sitting upright the blood has to work a little harder going uphill to get to the jaw.  When lying down the blood flow is a little greater (no gravity to fight) and blood vessels can dilate a little bit.

No : Penicillin vk will not hurt your baby, the dental infection that causes your toothache will. Get a diagnosis, get the tooth or teeth treated and enjoy your miracle!

Difficult: It depends on the type of pain, if it is cold sense then pain control (meds) may be the only way to help but not take it away.  If it is not cold sense then an ice pack, salt water rinses, even a heat pack at times, but if there is throbbing and swelling don't use heat which will increase the swelling.  Sadly not many great ways.  Good luck.

Decay: Go to your dentist and get it taken care of immediately. Sounds like root canal if it can be saved.

I wouldn't wait: You likely have a pretty bad infection if it is hurting that badly, i would recommend you find a dentist asap. Toothaches are no fun and very few medicines can actually touch a toothache like that including narcotic pain meds. Ask your regular doctor what he would recommend. I hope your ache is resolved soon.

No sense!: While immune system protects your body from infections and other foreign bodies, deep fillings can cause you pain for a variety of reasons- close to tooth's nerve, your tooth is cracked, the decay from the original decay allowed bacterial infiltration into your tooth's pulp, etc... My suggestion is to get a second opinion from another dentist or an Endodontist. Good luck!

: The important thing is to identify it for appropriate management. If it started suddenly like within a day, it sounds like a boil/cellulitis, you may need antibiotics however you could relieve the pain by warm compress. The warm compress may also help it form a head quickly and drain but you should be examined for need for antibiotics since it looks like you also have cellulitis of the arm.

is it normal to not be able to hold down any food after taking penicillin vk 500mg? i keep vomiting and can't eat. i was prescribed it for a severe toothache.

Typically : Typically it is recommended that you take antibiotics after eating.  Taking the medication on an empty stomach is an invitation to an upset stomach especially if it mixes with the acid in your stomach.  Try eating something a half hour prior to taking the medication.  If this continues discuss it with your dentist to see if they can change to another antibiotic.

Are you taking pain medications at the same time?  If so that is an additional reason that you are experiencing GI upset.

One additional note, this is probably not an allergy as is typically thought by patients.
