Keep if you can!: You are only 19!  you've got your whole life ahead of you!  all things considered, natural teeth are much better than artificial teeth.  Only remove the tooth if there's no other way to save it.

I've never heard of a root canal called "nerve kill" before.  Please start taking better care of your teeth immediately.  Lose one today, one tomorrow, ..Next thing you know, you don't have any more!

Severe medical issue: not to scare you but an infected tooth is not to be taken lightly.  People have actually died from such things and an infection in the mouth is an infection in the body as it can reach certain "danger" areas of the head/neck that will lead to extreme medical issues besides the tooth itself.  please get help ASAP

Sometimes: a tooth nerve that is sensitive to cold can heal itself.  This is called reversible pulpitis. If the nerve is sensitive to,not or decay has progressed into the nerve then it cannot heal itself and needs to be treated by a dentist.

Root Canal: If a dental pulp has been exposed, it will require a root canal treatment if the tooth is to be saved. A series of small files and disinfectant rinses inside the tooth are used to accomplish this.  The objective is not really 'killing' but complete removal of organic tissue once done and properly restored, there should be no symptoms and hopefully the tooth will be good for continued service.

Best to keep tooth: Usually, it is better to keep your tooth with root canal therapy than to have it extracted. Your teeth can shift, drift, and tip if other teeth are missing. Your whole mouth, and bite can change with a missing tooth. However, some teeth must be extracted if they are non restorable. Then replacement teeth can be placed.

Probably not: And even it it did, then you would need root canal therapy on that tooth. The clove oil is for temporary relief of pain on a tooth that is alive. At this point, your dentist may be able to restore it without root canal therapy. If the nerve is already dead, the clove oil will do nothing.

Too Early to Tell: An increase in sensitivity of the nerve of a tooth that can have many causes. If you have a deep cavity in that tooth it is probably the cause. Get it fixed right away before you need a root canal.
If the dentist can't find a cavity, you may be grinding or clenching on the tooth at night., or have suffered a blow - say from a fall. If there's no infection and you remove the cause it'll heal.

Call Dentist: Can't possibly tell over the internet why your tooth might be hurting you, especially without an exam or a radiograph. Call a local dentist for an appointment.

weeks to months: A few weeks to a few months. After that, you need to be thinking it is not going to get better by itself. If so it would need a root canal.
