No: Bad, malocclusion developed after missing back tooth will cause significant bone loss.  Missing back tooth without developing malocclusion will not cause significant bone loss.  If your missing toot is the first molar, the mesioangulation of the second molar may cause the malocclusion of the opposing arch and developing bone loss.  Check with your dentist.

Loose tooth: Teeth that are loose as a result of periodontal disease may tighten up again once they are treated by periodontal therapy. This may involve deep cleaning, surgery, and splinting the teeth.
It mostly depends on the amount of bone loss.
What is most important is follow-up care with the periodontist, and by yourself at home.

Tooth #35: There are usually only 32 teeth (28 plus the 4 wisdom teeth, unless you have some extra ones which is not impossible.)  i would assume that it is a wisdom tooth that has a periodontal problem and potential infection.  I would see a dentist and/or oral surgeon asap.

Gum disease: Gum disease (clinically called periodontitis) can cause all of those problems. It is an infection of the gums and bone around the teeth, primarily driven by poor oral hygiene but having numerous other contributing factors. It results in jawbone loss, abcesses, and sometimes even tooth death and loss.

Tooth infection: A tooth infection can spread through the soft tissues in days. It cannot cause significant bone loss in just a few days. You should be on an antibiotic immediately to help control and limit the spread of infection. If you are not already on one, discuss this with your dentist.

two of my bottom front teeth are in a different position than when i was 15. i do have slightly receding gums. would bone loss be the likely cause?

Not likely: The most usual cause is shifting that occurs over time.  Especially in lower front teeth.  It should not be a concern if  you can keep them clean.

would you visibly be able to see bone loss in teeth? bottom incisors have shifted and i'm worried that could be a cause. (i do have bleeding gums)

Accepted Answer

Seek exam: You can't see bone loss with the naked eye, the bone is completely covered with gum tissue.  If you are seeing gum recession, the underlying bone is receding.  Bleeding is indication of gum disease (infection).  Shifting is indication of bone loss.  Please see your Dentist and ask if referral to a Periodontist is in order.  You're too young to have all of these problems.

Crowded teeth make it more likely for food to collect around the teeth and more difficult to keep them clean. Proper tooth brushing, flossing and a diet that does not promote tooth decay and periodontal disease is essential for healthy teeth and gums.
