Directly related to an affected tooth. A patient's eye closed due to an infected nerve from an  upper front tooth. Suggest an immediate visit to the dentist.

If microorganisms: Susceptible to Amoxicillin therapy, then a few days usually.  However, if the infection, which is usually a mixed infection (aerobes, anaerobes, gram +, gram -, etc.) has some resistant organisms or organisms which do not typically respond to amoxicillin, then perhaps a different antibiotic is indicated or adding an additional one.  Consult the prescriber of the amox.

Review needed: The abscess may not be responding to the treatment - either because not sensitive to the antibiotics or because a collection has developed that the antibiotics cant penetrate,  or the diagnosis may not be correct and there may be another cause. Go to your dentist: I'm not a denist, but it is never advisable to neglect your oral health.  Abscesses in your mouth can  shower bacteria to your heart causing endocarditis.  You may need a root canal to save your tooth.  Loss of teeth not only makes it difficult to chew but cosmetically loss of teeth is not attractive and my affect you love life.  
Go see your dentist right away.

At that point all the antibiotics in the world may not help. Get the abscess treated.
