left tonsil slightly larger than right. very mild - no pain swallowing. no issues breathing. feel as though something is stuck in tonsil or feeling tonsil itself because its swollen?  this same issue happened around a month ago and has returned?

Doctor can evaluate: Throat symptoms can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics needed), a cold or mild flu (antibiotics are not used), or from some other cause such as allergies, irritants, or other viruses like EBV (causes mono). Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away in a day or two (mainly to check for strep throat).

No: No, within normal limits. If the size change increases, or you just need reassurance, see an ENT doc for evaluation.

Infection : past or present.  At your age, highly unlikely to be anything more dangerous, but keep an "eye" on it and if it enlarges further or causes any symptoms, then get it checked, pref by an ENT who would not be afraid to biopsy.

Common &amp; Concerning: Having a swollen tonsil is common. However, it's also concerning, especially since it hasn't returned to its original size. It could be infected, or growing a cyst or tumor. You should get that checked by an ENT or oral surgeon before it becomes something serious. Even if it doesn't hurt, it could be a real problem. Any oral condition which lasts more than 2 weeks could be dangerous. Get checked.

Tonsil hypertrophy: Your tonsils might become larger, if you have a viral or bacterial infection. Furthermore, many people with allergies will tend to have large tonsils, as well. This could fluctuate depending on when your allergies are flaring.

Enlarged tonsils: can result from an ongoing (chronic) condition or be the temporary effect of an infection. Very large tonsils may cause snoring and sleep apnea or cause trouble swallowing.  If you seem to be ill, be tested for an infection; antibiotics should treat the problem. Consult your doctor: an examination will reveal whether medication or surgery is needed. Good wishes:)

Enlarged tonsil: 8 months. So this is relatively recent, not for you normal anatomy. It's more than time to hav3 it evaluated.please see a Physician, preferably a specialist Otolaryngologist (ENT).

Big tonsils: They are only dangerous if -
You have lots of sore throats
You have difficulty swallowing because of them
You snore or choke and gag in your sleep because of them, and/or wake up tired both which may indicate obstructive sleep apnea.

If none of these are the case, I'd leave them alone as you don't really want to put yourself through surgery if you don't need to!

Yes: A few tonsil stones can scar up a tonsil so if becomes small

my tonsils have gone away on their own and now i have holes where they use to be. the gaping holes seem to be gettig larger over time. is this normal?

Tonsils go away: Many people's tonsils "disappear" as they get older. They are technically still there, and if you get a cold virus, they may swell a little. But, there is no need to worry. Sometimes food gets stuck in the crevices, which can lead to "tonsil stones" if you don't flush them out regularly (by gargling for example). But the empty spaces aren't a cause for concern at all!
