what can cause  asymmetry of the lingual tonsil?

Many things: The cause of the asymmetry of the lingual tonsils can be best determined after several questions are considered such as the presence of pain and if so, the duration. Do you have any allergies. Is this something that you have recently noticed and if so have any other changes have presented.  It would be best for you to visit  your dentist or an oral maxillofacial surgeon for a visual evaluation.

hi. it looks like there is a deeper crater in the top of my left tonsil. they are inflamed with tonsil stones but my biggest concern is the asymmetry.

Tonsil problem: Tonsoliths (stones in your tonsils) are common among the young with swollen, irregular tonsil tissue.  Asymmetry is not unusual, and perhaps due to the size of these stones.  Gargling, Q-tip/finger manipulation, or irrigation can dislodge larger stones, but only time or tonsillectomy will ultimately resolve them in my experience.  These are not usually infectious, but if painful should be checked.

i have chr tonsilitis, tonsil asymmetry and i might have oral hpv(gave oral sex).hpv test negative(cervical) but what about oral hpv?tonsil cancer risk

HPV: There are numerous possibilities here, and the best thing to do is to see a doctor and be examined and tested if they deem it appropriate.  Cannot diagnose this without seeing it.  Good luck.

Common: The tonsils are a first line of defense against infection or irritation. They are commonly enlarged and often not symmetric. If you have a scratchy throat, it may be you are early in a respiratory infection., most often viral. Now asymmetry with severe pain, fever, trouble swallowing, etc can be a sign of an abscess, a complication of some throat infections.

went to ent for asymmetric tonsil. he noted my left adenoid is extremely enlarged but doesn't look like cancer/infection. what else causes asymmetry?

Old scar: These adenoids are often scarred up from an infection years ago that they saved you from.

Chronic tonsillitis : It's most likely that your chronic tonsillitis is related to chronic infection in the tonsils, rather than hpv. Hpv oropharyngeal cancer would usually look very atypical on exam. This is something that should be evaluated by an ENT doctor. However, removing your tonsils would help your chronic condition and answer any concerns as the tonsils  can be thoroughly evaluated.

is tonsil cancer quite obvious to ents? i seen ent 4 asymmetry and also pcp. they both say not to worry. ear pain diagnosed as tmj. should i worry?

Maybe not: The only way to be sure is to do a scan of that area especially if you've been a smoker

i'm concerned i have tonsil cancer. my 1 tonsil has been bigger for 10yrs. ent said normal asymmetry. mouth sore same side. retromolar metastasis? :(

Tonsil: Good question. If a tonsil is truly asymmetric we recommend it be removed. Sometimes the only easy to tell is to get a ct scan of that area

could chewing on one side of your mouth cause facial asymmetry?

It might: If you chew solely on one side, you are exercising the muscles on that side more than the other side. Just like if you lifted weights with only your right arm, your right arm would become asymmetrical with your left.

everytime i close my mouth i bite the inside of my left cheek. it's often painful and annoying. i don't know if it's caused by any asymmetry on the jaws/teeth but it never happened with my right side before. how can i solve this?
