i have a few "canker" soars in my mouth, a swollen gland of some sort under my right jawbone and red, streaked tonsils and inner ear pain. i'm assuming strep throat.  the only hospital in my area that takes our insurance is full for a month. help?

Uvula: Most of the time, when the uvula gets big or long, it is from swelling.  Swelling of the uvula can occur with any kind of insult to the tonsils or throat, like a viral or bacterial infection, which you probably recently suffered.  It could also have occurred from any kind of trauma, but you didnt mention anything.  It should go down over the next several days, but could take a couple of weeks.

Possible: Whenever we share body fluids there's always a chance of an infection being passed along. The ear pain is probably referred pain from the throat. Gargle warm salt water, eat soft cool foods and if not better in 5 days see MD - sooner if significant fever/vomiting/rash.
