why do my lips & tongue go numb after a few alcoholic drinks? i thought it was normal but my friends say that doesn't happen to them. my husband think

Quit alcohol: Alcohol is a poison and it never did any body any good, ever, so quit drinking.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

what could cause extreme sensitivity to salt?  my tongue and lips go numb whenever i eat foods with salt.

Sensitivity: I doubt there is any other reason for this other than an idiosyncratic reactivity to the exposure of your tongue to salt seeing that you report no other unusual reactions to other spices or foods.

They're supposed to: Magic mouthwash often contains Lidocaine which is a local anesthetic or numbing agent. It also contains dyphenhydramine which can cause numbing. Magic mouthwash is supposed to make your mouth feel numb to lessen the pain of the oral lesion or sore in your mouth.

Very slim: But it does happen, from time to time, through no fault of your dentist or surgeon. Those are the risks of the surgery. Each tooth and jay is different, so the risk is not the same for everyone.

i have been getting a migraine with an aura. my left hand and lips/tongue, everything go numb and i can hardly see . i feel confused and out of it. i have sumatriptan , is that suitable for these types of migraines? ive heard xanax works?

: Review these symptoms with your neurologist. Numbness may be associated with a stroke or TIA. Please see the Emergency department for evaluation and control of the symptoms. Fluids, rest and Motrin are typically used for classic migraine pain. Discuss with the physicians at the hospital and please seek medical care.

went 2 dr for severe sore throat -8 days-not strep. given lidocaine to gargle..lips and tongue numb, didn't help throat at all. what am i doing wrong?

More info needed: Any other symptoms?  Fever, enlarged lymph nodes, chills, headache, etc.  Have you been around anyone with illness, have you been ill previously?  Has anyone actually looked at your throat and described it to you?  Difficult to diagnose without more info.

MD may refer you to a neurologist for further investigation.

Numb tongue and lips: Numbness of any kind is not normal. You should check with your doctor, but i would assume this is a warning sign that you shouldn't drink alcohol. Or at least, you should not drink that particular type of alcohol.
