what is the recovery time for foot surgery?

Depends...: Kind of a broad question.  There are different types of surgical procedures.  Toenail procedures or skin biopsies have little to no down time.  Bunions can vary from 6-8 weeks recuperation and more extensive rearfoot surgery may take up to months.  Need to restore proper alignment in the joint, restore proper mechanics in the foot, and reduce pain symptoms.  Bonus aesthetically pleasing.

There are many : Joints in your foot, it would depend on which joint. Other variables would include the form of fixation, if any other procedures were being done simultaneously..Need more info...

3 mo. ago had orif and hardware removal on 2nd mtp, prev. fused to correct crossover.foot hurts now more than before surgery.needs more time?thx

NON-UNION?: The 2nd MPJ was fused? If so, go back for another x-ray to check the fusion site. Maybe the fusion isn't solid.

i have two failed stents in my left leg. my leg feels real weak when walking and i get pain in my foot at night. my doctor said i need surgery. what is the recovery time for this surgey?

: It really depends on what surgery you are talking about. The best doctor to let you know the answer would be the surgeon who will be doing the procedure. Other questions to ask would be will you be able to walk on it right away and if not, how long will that be? Will driving be affected? These are all questions the surgeon will be able to answer. 2 yrs ago top foot was hurt er gave a recovery boot to wear 6 weeks. said bruised inside probably nothing broken. over time the index toe and middle tow now is spaced apart and still severe pain at times not when walking on it . worried surgery ?

had ankle surgery 8 months ago (peroneal tendon transfer and bone groove deepening). now need another reconstruction surgery on cfl and atfl on same foot using donor tendon. how will surgery recovery be different for these ligaments this time?

Should be okay: Obesity can shorten your life, cause decrease in function etc.  For an ingrow toe recovery at a young age it should be okay.

is it normal after ingrown toenails removal surgery years ago toenails have since been very thick and hardly grow at all. noticed buildup of something in the slits that use to have the sides of the nail. its not dirt? very confused if this is normal?

Keep wound clean: After the procedure, follow your doctors orders to keep the wound clean and free of drainage and dead tissue.  Clean daily with soap and water and apply ointment as prescribed.

Accepted Answer

Most: Some plans will require pre-authorization for medication. I don't know of any plan that will not cover nail removal
