i am so sick of tinnitus, how could tmj cause ringing in the ear, is their nerve between tmj & ear?

TMJ and tinnitus: Tmj can cause tinnitus due to the nerve (trigeminal) that supplies the two overactive, tense muscles responsible for tmj. Make sure your hearing levels are checked. There are many measures that can ameliorate tinnitus depending on cause(s). Your ENT or otologist can be very helpful in this regard. Good luck!

dog started barking tonight. every time he did, my ear would ring. tinnitus sufferer already. now when i talk i get a ringing/beep in ear or if i hear certain noises it happens. this came out of nowhere! i have tmj too. never experienced this before?

Tinnitus and TMJ: Tinnitus is noise or ringing in the ears. There is no drug for cure. Tinnitus is not a disease, but a condition that can result from many underlying causes (e.g. Tmj). 
Rec.: see ENT or orofacial pain specialist to rule out secondary pathology.

Yes: Jaw muscle dysfunction is the most common cause of jaw and ear pain, ear ringing and stuffiness.  Other causes include inflammation of the jaw joint/s, headache disorders, salivary gland disease, and ear infections.  Some medical illnesses can also exhibit these symptoms.  Try warm compresses over the jaws, antylenol or advil (ibuprofen). Consult an orofacial pain dentist for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

i have bad tmj - painful jaws. got a splint to wear at night. it has helped somewhat. i also developed tinnitus in my ear i am thinking from tmj. what would be my next step in dealing with this?

: Regarding TMJ, splint may help but will take a long time.  Consider a second opinion from oral surgeon.  The tinnitus would not be caused from jaw issues, and therefore, an otolaryngologist should be consulted.

Tinnitus: This is a symptom of inner ear disease and has many causes. It is often cause by taking excessive amounts of ASA. It sounds like you are not responding to treatment. Your doctor might want to image the area with an MRI to help sort this out. A referral to ENT also may be helpful. All the best, it is a miserable symptom.

Sleep guard: Ask your doc/dentist about the use of a sleep guard.  There are soft plastic versions at the drug store or your dentist can make one just for you.  It&#x27;s surprising how easy it is to sleep with this between your teeth and it helps prevent bruxism (teeth grinding).

why does everything on the internet say acoustic neuroma is the cause for unilateral tinnitus? cant it be from tmj? or anything else? i have in right ear, ent checked my hearing and everything is fine. what else could it be ?

Tinnitus: Sensorineural hearing loss is a common cause for "ringing in the ears".  Other causes include otologic, vascular, neoplastic, neurological, pharmacologic, dental and psychological factors. Menniere's disease and vestibular schwannoma possibilities too.

i have tinnitus in one ear with no hearing loss. was evaluated by ent. is unilateral tinnitus always a warning sign for acoustic neuroma? can i get unilateral tinnitus from tmj or allergies ?

Follow up: The most common cause of non pulsatile tinnitus is Noise Induced Hearing Loss. You should have a formal test with audiology even if you feel that you have no hearing loss. You should also be scoped by the ENT to rule out a patulous eustachian tube. Then you should have an MRI of the IAC to rule out masses or lesions that may contribute. Try white noise. Good luck to you. Follow up with Neurology.

jaw pain near wisdom teeth&have neck/ear pain&trouble swallowing.after sometime pain subsides but comes back if mouth is open wide.is this tmj?will it affect hearing/swallowing permanently?did wisdom teeth removal cause this?can this cause tinnitus

More info needed...: ... the most important info needed is how long ago were your wisdom teeth extracted? If they were impacted and involved bone resection to remove, full healing can take a month, possibly a bit longer. Any post operative issues should be addressed by your surgeon.
