i have a sore spot on the tip of my tongue, but no white spot like mouth ulcer or any redness. it's sore when the spot is rubbed by teeth. anxiety?

Maybe irritation: Could be irritation from a sharp tooth, trauma while eating or a burn from hot food. If not resolved within a week, see a dentist for evaluation.

why would my tongue be sore on the edges and tip and suddenly very sensitive to spicy food, alcohol and carbonated drinks? has been for 4 days. palate also sensitive. no obvious sores or redness.

Accepted Answer

Tongue sensitivity: Allergy, change in foods/spices, change in meds, change in supplements, neurologic disorder, burn, lots of other reasons. Avoid trigger foods for 2 weeks. If not completely gone at the end of 2 weeks from onset, see your Dentist.

hi. i have a small bit of redness on the floor of my mouth under my tongue. it is not sore. any advice?

Redness: What you describe is unlikely anything to be concerned about. Most likely an irritation, blood vessels, etc. Keep an eye on it and if it is not gone in two weeks, or it gets worse or you have any other problem, see your dentist to have it looked at.

i have tongue weakness, find it hard to eat, swollow and speak can hardly move it around. but it looks normal no redness, not sore or swollen?

Medical attention: How long have you had that?  I would suggest that you see your primary care physician, an ENT specialist, or a neurologist for a consultation as soon as possible.

Tongue: Salt water gargles, bland diet and ibuprrofen help but if it persists see an ent. You should see the dentist to smooth over that sharp tooth

See a Pro: Tobacco (smoked, dipped, chewed, inhaled or not) causes Cancer.  Quit now.  If you can go 2 full weeks without tobacco use and the red spots disappear, you're probably OK.  If red spots persist, see an Oral Surgeon immediately.  This all hinges on your quitting tobacco use immediately, fully, completely.

i developed a very small red bump on the tip of my tongue that is painful / sore.  i burned my tongue earlier today, could it be related?

Likely: That is the most likely scenario. You might also be pulling it against or over or through a small space at the front of your teeth. This can be a habit. If burned, it should resolve in 1 - 2 weeks. Monitor it and see. If not better, see your dentist. Good luck.

what might be the cause of a recurring soreness on the left side of the tip of my tongue?  apples, red wine, nuts, etc. worsen the problem.

See dentist: Could be canker sore, small ulceration that is tender, heals in 7-10 days; trauma from teeth; superficial or deeper abnormality; much less likely referred pain, etc. Smoker? Hpv? White lesion? Seedentist first. If need biopsy, oral surgeon.

hi, i have had a sore throat for about one week and a half.  i also have this red like patch on the right side of the tip of my tongue.

Has to be seen: The only way to know what that "red like patch" is, is to be seen by a general dentist, oral surgeon, or a physician.  This may or may not be related to the sore throat. Even if we saw a photo of that patch, it's only part of the picture as we often need to actually see you.

Sore throat: A sore throat associated with a raised red ring on the tongue may be related to a virus.  Certain vitamin deficiencies can also cause visual changes of the tongue as well as possibly a burning sensation in the tongue.  Check with your PCP.
