scheduled for a tympanogram & audio next week due to my ears popping & clogged from current cold. normal audio a 3 years ago with my tinnitus. never had a tympanogram since my tinnitus started. will this make my t worse or ears hurt/pop more. risks?

: No. Tympanography is just a system of mild pressure pushed into the ear drum to see how flexible it is. It is no more intense than mildly cupping your ears &amp; the duration is brief (seconds).The audio just studies response to different frequencies of sound, much like you hear every day of your life. It will have no effect on your baseline ear issues. I find it has no risk.

Eustachian tube: Hello, your ear symptoms are due to a eustachian tube dysfunction. The lining in your nose continues into the eustachian tube. Any condition affecting your nose will in turn cause ear symptoms. I would recommend afrin nasal spray as directed for 5 days. An otc decongestant can be used as directed thereafter for 7-10 days. If the symptoms persist, then see your ent.

: This is likely normal. Your jaw likely moves during that process &amp; that movement straightens the Eustachian tube that allows air to move from the throat into the middle ear. Yawning will replicate the process. By itself it is harmless.

Eustachian tube: The ear popping is likely do to transient opening of a eustachian tube that has swollen do to the cold.That will often trap mucous in the middle ear and reduce hearing while it is there. This can take a few weeks to clear up but should do some over time. If it becomes painful or you run fever, have your doc see if it became infected.

Neck pain: Likely arthritis in the neck (cervical spondylosis). Neck muscles that insert on the back of the skull become tense in an attempt to maintain good posture which leads to headaches. These headaches originate in the back of the head and migrate forward. Often the headaches worsen through the day. The popping noise are the facet joints of the cervical spine rubbing together and transmit to the ear.

Yes but: temporomandibular joint problem can cause similar problem. If the popping persists for more than 2 weeks or gets worse, see your doctor or ENT
