: It is a sign of possible edema which may be from venous insufficiency, heart,kidney or liver problems. If you observe that apparent leg or ankle swelling goes away overnight, edema seems likely and warrants an evaluation by your physician or a specialist in internal medicine. Appropriate testing will be done including blood tests, urinalysis and leg ultrasound depending upon the assessment.

i am 21 wks preg & think i have a superficial blood clot behind my knee. i think it was caused by too-tight compression socks during prev preg (sig edema & socks top band was too tight). can this turn into dvt? treatment?

Maybe superficial: This is likely not DVT.  DVT usually is associated with leg swelling and pain.  DVT has a higher incidence in pregnancy.  If these symptoms are present, contact a provider.

Get a Different bra: Asap!  this means  that you are wearing the incorrect bra size or a design that isn't right for you. Up to 85% of american women are wearing an incorrect cup or band size (or both).  Encourage you to go to a specialty bra stop for a fitting & consultation. Having the correct support will add to your comfort & your breast health. Stop harming yourself. Take care.

i recently took a trip to vegas from colorado. and just got back.... having issues with edema, and tight feeling chest. lots of drinks and no sleep?

Edema: Prolonged sitting on a plane, fluid retention from high sodium containing drinks contribute to formation of edema. Your chest tightness may be due to stress and tension from sleep deprivation, but if there are associated shortness of breath and sharp chest pains and/or calf pain and tenderness,get checked for blood clots in the legs and pulmonary embolism. When in doubt, it's better to get checked

can you have edema without swelling? can a feeling of tightness and burning in the hands and feet without seeking be caused by this?

Edematous Swelling: Edema is swelling. These conditions are only one of many conditions that can be responsible for tightness and burning in the hands and feet. For consideration are neuropathies and vasospastic disorders. You best bet is to be examined by specialist, namely a rheumatologist or neurologist.

i take 12.5mg hydrochlorothiazide for bp. missed 2 doses & got pitting edema in my legs, one worse than the other, and my fingers felt tight. i think it's from missing - never had it before, and good echocardiogram 6 months ago. should i be worried?

: Hydrochlorothiazide dose of 12.5 mg does not have any significant diuretic effect so I truly doubt that edema will develop after missing 25 mg of this medication. However, you should not worry much for now, just resume Hctz and be cautious with both fluid and salt intake for at least a couple days. If edema persists or gets worse, you should see your doctor.

severe pitted edema  to knee/ no ankles. feet red.bp 119/85 pulse 95 lasix (furosemide) and compression socks not helping. have rash that wont go away, fatigue?

See Doc: Your symptoms are worrisome.  Get your kidney function and heart checked out.  Are you short of breath?  Lasix (furosemide) is not always wise to use just to remove fluid.  Your doctor must find out what is causing the edema.  Sometimes medicines can cause your symptoms.  The rash could be many things including autoimmune diseases that can affect your kidneys.  See doctor ASAP to check kidneys, heart, etc

how to get ride of ankle/leg edema on oral minoxidil (elevation/compression socks ineffective)? 21 y/o female, recently started very low dose for alopecia, b/c couldn't tolerate spironolactone.  is a diuretic the only option/safe long term?

I would: It’s probably nothing serious as that is common but maybe a doctor can give you an option to reduce or eliminate it.

my upper body has extreme edema. especially in the neck, face and upper arms. i have severe tightness in my neck. my poops have been bright yellow for two weeks and i im having trouble going poop. i also have lower back ache?

: You need to be evaluated by a doctor ASAP. It is not normal to have extreme upper body edema and this needs to be diagnosed ASAP. So, see your doctor or go to the nearest ER-you will likely need a CT of your chest to find out what is wrong. You need to rule out superior vena cava syndrome. Good luck to you!

Scleroderma?: It is difficult to tell what you could have, but it is possible to have scleroderma--a disease often affectibing people age 3050 yrs old and more often in female.
