I : I agree with the other doctor who wrote to you. It's important to talk with someone about this, because ticks are known to carry a number of infections, such as lyme disease, babesia, and other bacterias. Generally they are slow growing infections and the symptoms can sneak up on you, or come and go over time. It would be a good idea to discuss this with your parents or a doctor. They might decide to give you a few weeks of antibiotic treatment to prevent a chronic infection.

when i was about 8 or 9 years old i found a tick on the side of my penis. it was already buried into the skin. ever since i had always noticed a blood vessel that stuck out far from normal on the same side of the tick bite. are they capable of this?

: Without an exam to confirm your description, I must hedge, however the vein bulge is extremely unlikely to have anything to do with the tick. You were prepubescent at the time of the tick bite. (In addition to enlarging) the vascular anatomy enlarges so it may support the needs of the organ it serves. It is not uncommon to have easily visible / palpable veins along the side of the penis.

Scarring?: Tick bite should not still be swollen years later, but any scarring from a previous process may be an area of irritation that gets scratched, and then itches more as it heals, then gets scratched more....in an endless cycle.  Try hydrocortisone cream or see dermatologist.

Tick bites: It is important to remove the tick as soon as it is noticed. Area of tick bite should be washed daily with soap and water. Expect some redness and swelling at the bite site, but less than the size of a dime. See doctor promptly if signs of local infection occur: redness/ swelling bigger than a dime, pus, red streaks spreading from the bite. Followup for tetanus shot if last shot &gt;10 yrs ago.

Not per se: A tick bite by itself is not likely to cause lymph node enlargment, but infection transmitted through tick bite, e.g., lyme disease may cause swelling of lymph nodes.

Sounds like: it is infected PLUS Tick bites may be the first indication for LYME infection...Antibiotics may be needed. Suggest you consult with your Family or Primary Care Provider.
A simple blood test is helpful so a "hands on" consultation is suggested!
