There has been success when tic symptoms are co-morbid with adhd, and as such, Guanfacine and other alpha-2-adrenergic agonists (clonidine) are commonly the first choice for treatment.

Repetitive movements: They are usually uncontrollable repetitive movements, they can be grunting, clearing of throat, eyelid blinking. They can be seen in syndromes such as gille de la tourette syndrome.

Possibilities: The "twitching" could be relatively benign, and if there is suspicion of seizure activity, an EEG would be indicated.  Discuss this with your pediatrician, as he/she will be better placed to guide you regarding your concerns.  But, in my perspective, epilepsy is far less likely than a benign situation.

Tics/Tourette's: Tourette's is an inherited neuropsyciatic disorder in childhood.  It is characterized by multiple motor tics and at least one vocal tic. Tourette's is is defined as part of a spectrum of tic disorders.  There is an assoc.with ADHD and OCD.  They are caused by the brain and do not cause brain damage in of themselves. What kind of "twitch are you concerned about"?

Meds for anx &amp; ADHD?: It looks like you already take methylphenidate (Ritalin), a stimulant. Stimulant meds, while commonly rx'ed for ADHD, may exacerbate twitches/tics &amp; anxiety. It's important to discuss ur treatment hx with ur doc. If you've not had incr tic/twitches on stimulant. You may not be likely to develop these. While one med may b preferred, some Pts would do better with one for each symptom. Talk to ur doc

can trileptal cause, or aggravate, tics or muscle twitches? what  should i look out for. i'm taking 75mg, at the moment, for bipolar 1 disorder.

?: It may cause tremors as a side effect,  you are on a low dose though, at any rate, not all listed side effects should be be experienced. Keep a diary of your symptoms for next appointment  with your doctor and discuss with him/her, as you are on other medications too, which don't seem to interact, good luck

Quite common: There are many reasons for babies to have twitching or shaking movements. The common and benign startle response may look like twitching to many in the first couple of months, even in their sleep or with a slight if sound. It would be helpful to make a video and share with your pediatrician on your next visit to see if it requires any work up.

No: Tics are stereotyped movements that are sudden and purposeless.  Tics are exacerbated by stress and disappear during sleep.

i've just noticed my 18 mo old doing some double blinking and head twitching (seen only twice). is this a tic and should i be worried it is serious?

Blinking: If the blinking continues take your child to see a pediatric neurologist to rule out a seizure disorder.
