Usually not: In the distant past, thyroid hormone was used to 'shrink' nodules. More recent studies with ultrasound monitoring has shown that most nodules do not shrink with thyroid hormone treatment. Because thyroid cancer is the fastest increasing cancer in women, it is important to follow most thyroid nodules with ultrasound. With hashimoto's thyroiditis, there can be false or pseudonodules.

Thyroid nodules: In some cases, taking thyroid hormone replacement therapy can shrink thyroid nodules.  Sometimes, though, all we do with this treatment is keep the thyroid nodules from growing.

Not likely: Ultrasound exams are performed by trained technicians and supervised by physicians on site, so a mix up is unlikely.  It is, however, common for many people to have multinodular goiter, meaning many cysts on both sides of the gland.  These are usually benign & require no further evaluation.  If concerned, a needle biopsy can be performed.

Yes: Yes, it can shrink. Most solid nodules are adenomas and are benign. If it shrinks that is a good sign...It is .Likely benign.
It is the ones that get larger or are large when they are first found that need closer assessment. In this case a biopsy may be needed to assess more closely.
Btw thyroid nodules are pretty common.

Unlikely: Thyroid nodules are common. Most are benign but some can be cancerous, so monitoring and follow up are advised to tell the difference.

Thyroid nodule: You may want to discuss with your doctor about ultrasound  for cyst or solid and thyroid scan for hot and cold nodule also thyroid antibodies and thyroglobulin. Usually these tests are done before biopsy. Since you did not mention and i assumed  they are not done. Therefore recommending them. What was the basis for biopsy? Physical  exam or one of these tests?

It could be.: The parathyroid glands are frequently in close proximity to the thyroid gland so a parathyroid adenoma can look and feel like a thyroid nodule. Parathyroid adenomas cause hyperparathyroidism,
