Muscles aching: 85% of these types of pain are related to muscles.  Unfortunately, the other 15% can be infection and disease processes.  Please get to a dentist for an appropriate diagnosis!

Yes and No: You should see your dentist and be evaluated for TMJ as this sounds like a tmj/stress issue. If the TMJ is okay then please see your md for further evaluation.

Multiple symptoms: You can either research hundreds of possibilities over the internet and sites like this or see your primary care physician as soon as possible for a proper diagnosis and treatment. I would recommend the second.

Need an exam: Jaw pain could be related to multiple sources including dental issues and cardiac issues. If you feel the source is your teeth, see a dentist. If you have no idea of the source, start with a PCP to r/o serious medical issues and if nothing is seen, then go to a dentist or appropriate clinic offering dental services. Don't put it off!!

TMJ Issues: You may be experiencing issues with your TMJ, which can be caused by grinding, clenching, and excessive chewing (gum), to name a few. If you have not visited a dentist in ten years, you are way overdue for an evaluation. See if an occlusal guard may be right for you, and stop suffering. There are treatments available for this condition. Call for an appointment.

root canal 2 weeks ago.  now jaw pain and clicking  sound on the same side as root canal.  some soreness/throbbing to tooth and gums.  is this normal?

Many Issues: TMJ "clicking" when opening and/or closing is not directly due to the root canal therapy. Keeping your mouth opened wide during the procedure may be the problem. Pain around the tooth or joint? Soreness around the tooth should be investigated by your treating dentist.

You have infection: Bacterial infections of the middle ear and sinuses are never symmetrical and if not treated long enough or with the right antibiotic they will smoulder along for months, develop drug resistance, and continue to cause vague symptoms. Ideally you should be treated with Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) or Cefuroxime for a solid two weeks.

Multiple causes: From a dental standpoint, it could be coming from a problem with your teeth, your gums, grinding, clenching, and an infection to name but a few. Have a local dentist examine you for the cause of your discomfort.
