Sore throat: Initially try salt water gargles,try old fashioned aspirin gargle,symptoms may be caused by dry mouth,inflammation,or infection,if symptoms persist,see your physician,a culture may be needed,prior to treatment.

GERD: In the absence of true inflammatory disease of the throat (viral or bacterial infections that need a proper diagnosis), one of the most common causes of recurrent sore throats in any age group is LPR or laryngeal-pharyngeal reflux.  This was formerly known as high reflux and is the reflux of stomach acid into the upper esophagus causing sore throat, voice changes and cough.  Need diagnosis.

Possible: That you might have a cold sore in your throat.  They cause a lot of pain which is localized in one spot.  See your doctor to be sure.

See ENT Dr.: It's hard to say without doing an examination of your throat, so it's best to call your pcp dr. Or an ENT doctor to take a look at this.When it feels like glass cutting, it means that it can be swollen, irritated, and definitely needs medical attention. I would not be smoking at all during this time, as it will aggravate, and making it worse. You may benefit more from sailing gargles, and losenges.

Best thing to do: Is get an examination. There may be an anatomical or inflammatory problem with your right side. This could also be excacerabated by reflux. Talk to your doctor or see an ent.
