Tri-phasic CT: Tri-phasic ct scans are used to evaluate the structure, the blood vessels and the nature of the organs.  The three phases are: 1) before the intravenous contrast is given; 2) the arterial phase, when the dye is given rapidly as an injection, the effect is that it goes to the heart as a bolus and then to the aorta as a bolus, like an arteriogram; 3) the venous phase or equilibration phase.

i have headache for two three month, it is seen in ct scan that polypoidal mucosal thickening in right maxillary; diffuse mucosal thickening seen in r?

Sinus congestion: Your ct is consistent with congestion in the maxillary sinus which is most likely related to allergy due to the presence of polyp like swelling.  If you have thick nasal drainage, sinusitis is possible.   Most maxillary congestion will give a sensation of pressure in the cheek below the eye but in itself, is often not the cause of chronic headaches.

i had a fall 7 days ago, and got a concussion. three days after the fall i had a ct scan that came out clear. today i felt a sudden cold feeling on that side of my head, like icy hot was put on my head. should i go back?

: Altered sensation over the area of traumatic contact is likely a localized scalp phenomenon and is unlikely to represent intracranial issues.  Since you appear concerned, would phone your doctor's office and report your status.  Most likely, you will achieve a  full recovery.

Pancreas scan: 37 M of unknown ethnicity, family Hx medical Hx notes had pancreas scan ok. Worried about upper and and back pain. Asks if CT REASSURING? ANS: yes but the dr who ordered it has moe information than I do to  make an assessment. Ask your team please.

if in three arteries there is 40-50% blockage as per ct scan so is there anything which is to be worried or it is curable by medicines?

Depends on symptoms: Given ur age, any degree of narrowing is abnormal. But the real question is whether or not u r having symptoms because of the blockages. If u do develop symptoms... like chest pain, problems with exercise, EKG abnormalities, fluttering... then 1 or all 3 of these blockages need to be addressed. U could choose to get another opinion. Cardiac catheterization is the gold standard test. TTYD about it.

ct scan report says " subcapsular early hyperenhancing lesion  that is isodense to liver on portal venous & equiblrium phases."  what could it be?

Is this new lesion?: Benign tumors /neoplasms of the liver are not cancerous; malignant tumors are.  See prior answer regarding differential for benign ones. Malignant tumors include: fibrolamellar carcinoma, hepatoblastoma, cholangiocarcinoma, cystadenocarcinoma, angiosarcoma, undifferentiated sarcomas, epitheliod endothelioma. Metastatic liver tumors originate elsewhere (frequently from stomach, breast, lung, colon)

had pneumonia three times in 10 months. had recent ct scan which showed density on lll of lung.  what could be the cause of the repetitious pneumonia?

Airway blockage: Seems likely that you have some structural issue of the airway that is preventing clearing of secretions and causing recurrent pneumonia. Could be something you aspirated, something causing compression like a lymph node, or some other type of abnormality. See a pulmonologist and or thoracic surgeon because three pneumonia a in 10 months is abnormal and worrisome.

i had a ct scan of brain and neck. i was inside ct scan for 20 minutes. is this normal amount of time?. i asked how long it would take before laying down, they said three minutes. but it was 20. now im worried about being iinside and radiation?

: Typically takes 3 to 5 minutes for a CT scan. If there is motion or an entire area needed for the x-ray was not caught in the image, it could take longer. Your physician who’s reading the x-ray should let you know if there is problems with the CT scan itself

my wife ct scan report show three calcified nodular lesions with no perilesional edema in left prontal and left occipital. largest measuring approx 5x?

5mm?: Do you mean 5mm? It is possible that this may represent chronic changes of cysticercosis. This is more likely in patients with an hispanic background. I would recommend referral to a neurologist for work-up to make sure about this.

i had a ct of head and neck with contrast. i was pushed under ct scan. tech said would be about three minutes but i was under it for 20 minutes.they inserted contrast and was out.is this normal?could they have left radiation on by error? why so long?

: Positioning for the best possible study takes time and remains the most time consuming party of specialty exams The actual time on for the CT study using modern equipment is a few minutes per study (ie. with or without contrast). They do not "leave the machine on" for positioning and do not rush the patient out after a study.
