Variation in the length of time until a baby begins oral breathing, but most children and adults are nasal breathers at baseline and mouth breathe to compensate during exercise and colds/stuffy nose for example.

May be thrush: Thrush is a whitish coating inside the mouth (on the tongue, inside cheeks, the gums, etc...) caused by an overgrowth of yeast (candida). Candida is normally in people&#x27;s mouths, but in small amounts so is invisible. Thrush is non-urgent if a baby is behaving fine, but should be evaluated by a primary care doctor who can prescribe medication if needed (if no over-the-counter treatment available).

Probable viral infec: Fever with a small amount of bleeding from the mouth could be a viral infection like coxsackie.  Small  ulcers can be painful -- treat with increased fluids and tylenol (acetaminophen).  Other cause could be gingivitis -- inflamed gums.  Massage the gums gently and give fluids and tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain.  If lots of bleeding, your baby needs to be seen and evaluated!

At 9-10 month age: Normally babies start putting feet in mouth by 9-10 months of age . Better not to use shoes at very early age , it may hurt the baby .

Probably okay: It is probably fine, but the sore should be checked by a Pediatrician. Very often viral illness may be associated or it may be an isolated finding. The baby if otherwise well, has defenses against illness.
