It is normal for age: It is unfortunate that they use the word disease to describe the mild changes of your lumbar and thoracic spine.  I never see a MRI report that is interpreted completely as normal.  This result would have to be considered in the context of your symptoms.  We dont treat mri's, we treat symptoms. could my herniated thoracic spinal discs be the cause of my undiagnosed and ongoing chest pressure ? cardiac work up for vascular disease negative?

: A herniated intervertebral disc in the upper spine may cause chest discomfort. Usually symptoms radiate from the back around the side &amp;into the front of the rib cage. However if the ruptured disc presses against a certain area of the spinal cord symptoms may be felt only in the front of the chest.  An MRI of the thoracic spine would demonstrate this. A neurologist is best to evaluate &amp; advise you.

More informaton: needed/ This sounds like the spine of an older person not a 40 year old unless there has been heavy duty lifting as a part of the history! Schorls nodules are not really significant but the degenerative disc disease should be evaluated by Spine Specialist.

: The wording suggests they are comparing older films taken at some point in the past with the new films. It says there is no change in the appearance of the structures between the two times the films were taken. What that means for the patient must be interpreted by the treating doc who knows all the facts of the case.

See doctor: Degenerative disc disease of the thoracic spine can cause rib pain, chest pain, and shortness of breath ( from pain) but it shouldn't cause palpitations. Palpitations, chest pain and sob can also be heart problems. Go see doctor right away. Make sure your heart is ok.

No: This is just mild osteoarthritis.

No worries: The appearance of the thoracic spine on an MRI may be much different than how you actually feel.  There are many published studies that have shown that 20-40% of subjects without symptoms may have positive findings on MRI studies in your age category. Stay active and don't worry.

This should be answ-: Ered by your spinal surgeon, who knows you and your condition. Anyone else giving you options might not be the right thing to do, for you, except confusing the issue further. Google it and you'll get all options, but what's best for you, has to be from your surgeon, and no one else.

Thoracic disc: Yes.  Generally extension exercises can help with a thoracic disc due to the fact that the native thoracic spine is in flexion (which compresses the disc).

Back pain: Initially tried conservative treatment can try heating pad whirlpool does not work then possibly steroid injections for the next step.
