Pancoast tumor: It is a function of size. Small apical or pancoast tumors can be missed on x-rays but once their size becomes large, then a chest x-ray should be able to detect them.

Lung tumors: generally are symptomatic only when the reach a size picked up by ROUTINE chest x ray THAT's PRECISELY WHY regular chest films are NOT a great tool for early Diagnosis of lung cancer!  Lung CT scan with CONTRAST is THE most effective x ray exam for this purpose!

Chest discomfort: of any type needs to be evaluated by your doctor.  Please see him/her and the doc can order whatever tests may be needed if need be.  There are lots of possibilities and cancer is low on the list of them.  Peace and good health.

Here is my guidance: Chest pain can be caused from many causes, lung cancer is not the first thing that should come to your mind. If the pain has been present for more than one week and your concern is cancer,  a Chest X-ray will show it easily. But you should go see a doctor first in case your pain is persistent for &gt;1 week..

Term: myelopathy is medical term for lesion of the spinal cord.  I suppose the question is, what lesion? Tumor (as you have asked), Demyelinating disorder, MS, etc.  MRI and medical evaluation can help sort this out.

Usually slow, but...: Ependymomas, astrocytomas, and peripheral nerve sheath tumors all tend to grow relatively slowly, but the impact of a tumor here is great and if detected, generally surgery should be considered at once. I have one case of an ependymoma that produced symptoms for over ten years before it finallyi wish you good luck.

Yes: If you had a tumor compressing your spine, this would likely be visible by x-ray.

See a neurosurgeon: It is unlikely that the previous accident has caused your spinal problem.
You need further evaluation which can be done either by a neurosurgeon or by an orthopedic doctor.

i have a rare arachnoid cyst possible tumor in my spine in the thoracic. ive been on oxycodone since i was 19 so it barely touches me. even the fentynal 50mg barely touched my pain. i'm so lost on what to do nothing helps my pain!! any advice?

: You describe likely medication tolerance and probable dependence with  little benefit at this point.  First, get updated neurosurgical consult, and if surgery is an option, consider this.  Otherwise, consult pain management specialist.  Perhaps both at this point.
